I think they gave 2 weeks notice before the may 24 hour start of summer last year. If 2 weeks is the mark, that would be early next week if it's leap day.
I'm guessing that they may be a thing of the past. They were never a big draw at WDW. They were never announced with enough time for the average vacationer to plan. It was a fun surprise for those already booked.
At Disneyland it has become a disaster...clogged highways, closed parks, and angry guests. Too many APs to safely do a one day event.
I love the concept and always hoped to cross a 24 hour day off my bucket list. Maybe Disney will figure out a way to satisfy both Coasts.
I hope you are right. I booked a reservation in anticipation they will do Memorial Day weekend again.I think it will happen again Memorial Day weekend.
I think that 2015 was a "disaster" for Disneyland because they opted to do debut the new parade, new fireworks, and new WoC on the same day. The previous event (2014) was no where nearly as busy or as bad. So I don't think you can use 2015 as a guide for whether they'll have another 24-hour event in DLR.At Disneyland it has become a disaster...clogged highways, closed parks, and angry guests. Not that this is a certain doom to the 24 hour day, here's an observation from EasyWDW
Disney moved Magic Kingdom’s morning Extra Magic Hour from Tuesday May 24th to Friday May 27th. In 2016, Magic Kingdom normally hosts its morning EMH on Fridays, so it was somewhat interesting that during that week, it had originally been scheduled on the Tuesday. Over the last few years, Disney has run a 24-hour promotion on that Friday, operating the Park from 6am Friday through 6am Saturday. Switching the morning Extra Magic Hour to Friday makes it much less likely that Disney would run the 24-hour day on the 27th. There would be no point in opening the Park at 5am for resort guests. Nobody would be there.
