any special requests for Sheraton Safari?

We're leaving in just two days, splitting our trip (May 2-12) between three resorts; ending with three nights at the Sheraton Safari. We are Starwood members and can request an upgrade. Are there any rooms better than others? Or perhaps a better question would be, are there any rooms we should avoid because of noise?

Stay off the 6th floor in the same building as the registration office! We were pugraded to a pool view on this floor and it was horrible. There are several banquet/meeting rooms on this floor along with a service elevator that is used to bring stuff up to set these rooms up.

They start setting up at about midnight and it is elevator and clinking of dishes, etc. They start taking everything down about 3 hours before...it was constant from about 8 to 2 or 3 in the am...

STAY AWAY from this area!!!

If possible, request to be upgraded to Bldg 4, which contains the "Safari Suites". These will have a separate bedroom and a front room w/ tv, minifridge and microwave. Most of these rooms are marked a "Starwood Preferred" and we were upgraded by showing our platinum card.

WeE stayed here last December and had a great time. It's very close to DTD, lost of nearby restaurants and an easy drive to get into the parks (we rented a car)

We are Starwood Gold - do you think it qualifies for an upgrade? And should we request in advance, or at check in?

Gold should get you upgraded but it depends on the clerk at the front desk. I would wait until check-in to request - smile nicely, show your Gold Card and ask if an upgrade to Bldg 4 is available. It might help to mention if you were celebrating an anniversary or birthday.

If you have your reservation number, you can go to the Starwood site and see what type of room they have you reserved for. They sometimes show the upgrades in advance when your are within 72 hours of the stay.

Loved this hotel. It was really comfortable, clean, and modern. The staff was incredible!!! We had 2 rooms. One was in the main registration building (1) and on the 2nd floor, pool view. MIL stayed there and didn't have any noise issues. We were in bldg 3 3rd floor. We were facing the parking lot, however right behind the parking lot was a beautiful manmade lake w/ the big fountains. They were all lit up at night. It was really a pretty view. And quiet since we weren't getting any of the pool noise.
