We'll be in WDW for Christmas this year and I was wondering if there are any special Christmas treats we should be on the look out for. It can be in any of the parks, resorts or at Downtown Disney.

They will customize their cookies and rice crispie treats to be christmasy.... but, if you are going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party they will have Christmas sugar cookies and hot chocolate or hot cider! :thumbsup2

We made our first Disney Christmas visit last year after over a year of planning and much excitement. Not in my plans were record low temperatures since 1962! While waiting for the Osborne Lights to start, my girls and I were freezing. I spotted a woman with a Christmas theme mug, made exactly like the resort refillable mugs but with Mickey & Minnie baking cookies on it. I asked her where she got it, she pointed to a hot chocolate cart. Since we were cold anyway, we bought hot chocolate and watched the light show. Being from Indiana I had to chuckle when they made it "snow," could have stayed home for that! But at $5 the mugs helped make one of the best memories and I often use them at home now for either coffee or lidded cups for my kids. Enjoy your trip!

I enjoyed the gingerbread shingles that they sell in the shop at the GF gingerbread house. There were also some yummy candied pecans that we got from the gingerbread house in Liberty Inn in the America pavilion.

Does anyone know when the Christmas treats start to come out? Does that usually happen with MVMCP? I know they have stuff for the party but I'm talking in the parks and resorts during the day? I'm read dining reports and trip reports and I thought I remember it mid november? Kinda with the Christmas party and decorations coming out? I hope I'm right....I have a trip planned for the 12th-20th:):)

There are lots of themed Christmas snacks that you can get around the parks and resorts- cookies, rice krispy treats (as past posters have mentioned), hot chocolate, and my favorite... cupcakes.

The resorts also sell some of their Christmas "decorations," such as the gingerbread shingles that are identical to those on the roof at the GF, cookies decorated with pictures of children all around the world at the Contemporary, and so on. I remember the Beach Club doing something new last year- they had a little shop in the lobby selling Christmas treats/baked goods. They're great to bring home as well. I know that the deluxe resorts offered lemonade/iced tea and sugar cookies in the lobby last year on Christmas Eve and Day for resort guests. I don't know if the moderate and value resorts do this as well. It was a really nice, thoughtful touch.

Some restaurants choose to partake in more traditional Christmas fare in terms of entrees and desserts. I think Allears does a great job listing all of these places that choose to partake.

The Christmas treats tend to come out around the same time as the Christmas decorations- a few weeks before Christmas. They don't stay around for too long though. We usually stay long enough for New Year's Eve and Day and find that the resorts at least are pretty quick to take down the decorations (specifically the huge tree(s)) in the lobby ~ 1/3.

Have fun!
