Any Scuba Divers on Western?

will be on the July 6 cruise. Just can't decide if we want to do both dives offered or if we do one which one to do. Any suggestions?:bounce:

I think that we are going to do Caymen with Disney, I'am still checking around.Seeing what operations have to offer.
On Cozumel though, you can get more personal dives(less people) We are looking to dive with our sons age 9 and 11.
The 11 year old did a bubble maker in Akumal in 20 ft.
He was 9 then. I contacted several places in Cozumel,
They will do the boys in a resort coarse for 55.00 each. Then we can do shore dives while they are in class. Then a family boat dive. Only to 25 ft because of the boys. At 45.00 each
I have been given the rate of 65.00 to 80.00 for a two tank boat dives from several reputable operators in Cozumel, so much cheaper than the disney excursion. Some of them even pick u up at the dock!

If you are looking for a dive op on Cayman try Bob Soto's. They have a shop which is not far from where the ship's drop passangers off and it is a very good operation. We dove with them for a week a few years ago and they were excellent.

Will let you know after the 5/11 cruise.

The 9 year old would be limited to a Bubblemaker type program.

FYI the max depth for the Bubblemaker Program is 6 feet. It should have been conducted in (confined water) a pool or open water with confined water type conditions.

We're on the August 31st Western. My DH and I both dive. We will be with our non diving friends and their kids DD7, DD5 & DS3. We're also looking at excursions on our own, but I'm a bit concerned about the hurricane season weather and the possibility of missing a port. Does anyone know if your boat changes ports due to weather are all Disney excursions canceled or does Disney have a backup plan? I'm also trying to figure out how to pack our gear, the clothes, the formal clothes and all the other stuff these boards say you should bring into 2 bags each. They will be BIG bags. I can't wait!!!! Only 128 days!!

My husband and I are both OW Advanced divers. We dove with my son on this Bubble Maker. It is supposed to be in a pool and the certificate they give you even says so....BUT
I know Padi rules and I can tell you they bend them in Mexico and probably alot of other places. I have not been told no on the 9 yo
doing a resort dive by ANY operator in Cozumel. They are all willing to do this as long as he dives with an instructor.
You think they would get in truble for doing it but they are all willing to. I have even copy and pasted an email I received from
a operator whom BTW I asked 3 times about my sons age!
I guess we shall see, he is not the only one who responded this way. I would never let my either of my sons dive with anyone I did not totally trust so I will do my homework AND I will dive with them who ever we choose
As for the post above, we are cold water divers so our BCD's are big and we have the huge fins! I think we my just bring limited dive gear and rent BCD's. We are struggling with this one as we love our gear! But its a load! We hauled it all over Southern Mexico and Belize last dive trip and I'am really not sure I want to pack it all along.!!

Dear Bobbi,

We think that the best way for you to dive would be to do a beach dive while your sons
are in the class then for all of you to do a one tank boat dive afterward. We charge $5.00
to rent a tank for the beach dive and we would charge you $40.00 each to do a one tank
dive. There will just be the four of you on the boat in the afternoon (with the instructor, of
course). We would go to a very shallow reef - no deeper than 25 feet.

Let us know what you think and if we can expect you.

Sincerely,

Paul and Kit Padilla:bounce:
