We found several of these in our garage. It looks like animal poop but we have no idea what it could have come from. Any ideas? We leave our garage door open at night so anything could have come in.

But it also looks like some type of larva.

While I hardly consider myself a "scat expert", those look like larvae to me.

Larva. Moth. Beetle. Not sure what kind, but almost certain it's larva. Did you touch it? Often larva will wiggle (ick double ick) when it's touched. LOL

are there 'feathers' on the end of any of them? They look similar to black carpet beetle larvae.

I thought this thread was going to be about jazz singing!

Whatever that is, it's skeevy and if I found it, I'd my husband chuck it off our property. Ick!

You leave your garage door OPEN at night? :scared1:

Well, when I saw this thread title about "scat experts" on the Dis...many many responses came to mind. I laughed until I cried, then I tried to figure out what I could say that wouldn't result in more points being added to my permanent record here.....

Here's the response I came up with.......

Yea. What's the issue? Any snakes, lizards or mice are going to make it in even if the door is closed.

I never assumed people closed their garage doors just to keep out lizards, snakes and such.

Yeah -- that's a dead bug of some sort (unless it's moving!) -- not scat.

Uhhh yes, those are bug larvae, what kind I have NO idea but ewwww they look yucky. lol

And why leave your garage open at night? If we did that everything we store in the garage would be gone in the morning....you must live in a really nice area to not worry about that. :)

Actually we live in the middle of nowhere. Most people don't even know our housing plan even exists. Our road is gravel and looks like an old road heading off into the woods.

In fact, I once had a NC State Trooper stop me and ask me where a certain address was - it was on my road.

We don't even have curtains on our bedroom windows.

I could not live like that.....no curtains on the windows?? Crazy! LOL That's pretty neat tho, I wasn't aware places like that even existed anymore. :)

Google "pupa".

You've got about 24-48 hours to get rid of them before the hatch into something with wings...
