I love Disney World and love their different races throughout the year. Unfortunately, my running friends aren't big Disney fans so they don't want to spend the money to go for a race. I was wondering if there were any other runners on here who go solo to Disney races?

I haven't done a solo marathon trip, but I will be doing one this Labor day at the Disneyland Half Marathon and Disneyland 10K. The races were sold out before I even had a chance to see if friends wanted to come!

I have been on trips with family where I was the only runner, so I did the bus ride and race part alone - it was fine :)

I have done several several solo Disney races. Typically my friends will join me on a few Disney races here and there. I am currently doing the Dumbo Challenge at Disneyland, Tower of Terror at Walt Disney World and Wine & Dine at Walt Disney World all solo. I really enjoy when my friends joint me which makes the race weekend even more special but I have no problems going alone.

I'm doing the WDW half in January possibly Solo. My running partner went and got herself all pregnant. I'm booked at POP from Jan 6-13th. Looking forward to doing what I want whenever I want.

I've done it twice. I thought it would bother me, but the ability to set my own schedule, have privacy and not feel pressured to "entertain" was nice. I hope to have my family come at some point, but I enjoyed the solo trips. The last one I met up with some online friends to keep me from feeling completely isolated.

Thanks for the replies! I guess I'm worried about feeling isolated and lonely. My biggest worry is what I will do waiting in lines. I'm so used to having someone to talk to on vacation. I've ridden a few rides solo when the people I was with were doing something else but still, I got a few looks...or maybe I was imagining that...

I think you'll find more than a few friendly Solo Marathoners at the parks. I know I'm looking forward to bothering people to take my pictures, and plan on returning the favor for other solo trippers.

Runners are the best and if you are wearing some type of running shirt or maybe your medal after the race you'll always find someone to talk to while your standing in line for a ride. When I am in the parks solo and in lines for rides I have no problems striking up a conversation with someone around me as long as I don't feel I am intruding. Sometimes I just stand in line and not say a word or update my status on FB or check my email.

I worried about that too, but got over it pretty quickly. Like I said, it's nice setting your own pace, particularly after a race when the legs and fatigue set in.

Honestly, I was surprised how little it ended up bothering me. Maybe it's just my personality, but I never felt truly isolated. I went to a few meetups with running groups online, but primarily I was on my own.

I don't think you have to worry about judgment, particularly on marathon weekend when there seems to be lots of solo-tripers.

In the end, life's too short to worry about what others MAY be thinking about you. You're in the Happiest Place on Earth and that is what matters. Enjoy the experience.

Well, I did it... I registered for the Tower of Terror 10 Miler!!! It will be my first ever solo trip so I'm hoping to get to know some other solo runners here before then that I can hang out with!

I enjoyed this race last year with the exception of the humid weather so I hope when I go solo this year the weather will cooperate. Aside from that the only thing I didn't enjoy was part of course that was a trail. I guess with the humidity I didn't appreciate all the dust kicking up as well. I did like all the villian characters and spending the rest of the evening in Hollywood Studio.

I did the Inaugural Wine & Dine half marathon in 2010 which used to be this weekend and it was warm but didn't bother me too much. I guess being from Louisiana I'm used to the humidity. The dirt path sounds interesting...hope it's not too bad!

With all the races I do at WDW I am getting used to the heat and humidity but I prefer the cooler weather.

Have fun, did the inaugral last year. As some have mentioned, it was pretty hot, did it in a few more minutes than I planned. The old ToT 13K was my first ever Disney race, I think that was four years ago. They stopped it after I did it, was glad they brought it back. Sort of the same course but they added a lot in WWOS. Running around the stadium was kind of cool! So far I have done all the WDW races except the Princess. Am signed up for the Full in Jan, which will be my second. Although I go solo there are many folks from the WISH boards I meet up with.

Sounds awesome! I'm hoping to find a couple o people on the boards that will be there and maybe meet up in a Park.

I'm hoping to come down for the ToT 10miler. I've recently been training for it. But then I dislocated my knee and can't run on it for a month. Then I don't know if I'm gonna be ready. But I'm hoping. First race ever!

You will have no problem meeting folks. I do not think I can make the ToT this year but will be down for Marathon weekend. You should also check out the DIS boards here, and maybe join a team.

That a bummer but as long as your knee has healed I would suggest you still come down for the ToT. I believe you can do it. I've seen people speed walk a half marathon. Good luck with your recovery.

In for ToT solo which will also be my firat solo trip. Looking forward to it. (Quasi solo as our running club is sending a group)
