Any rumors about the 14 day excursions?

I am wondering about what kind of activities Disney will have for Curacao, Guatemala, Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas.... just curious if any ideas have been circulated :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

In Guatemala it looks like the regular excursions by other outfitters usually include a 10 hour trip to Mayan ruins, deep sea fishing, a hiking trip, tours into the town nearest the port, tours to a coffee and sugar plantation.... I don't know if Disney will create some new activities or if these will remain the options.

We won't be in Port Quetzal (Guatemala) long enough for the 10 hour Mayan ruins excurions ... we'll only be there 7am to 1pm, so I'm not sure what (if any) excursions we might get there. :(

I don't understand why we are there for such a short amount of time! :( Kinda dissapointing! ::yes::

personally, I think it is really meant to be a refueling & supply stop, more than a port stop (probably another reason why the 14 day pricing was such a "deal").

One cruise related website says "Puerto Quetzal, while offering plenty for shipping companies, offers little in the way of attractions for cruise passengers."

A refueling stop maybe, but probably not a supply stop. DCL tends to completely supply their ships while in U.S. ports. The way it was explained to me is that the food supplies are inspected and safer from U.S. suppliers.

Makes sense....

I would hope they will still offer some options for getting off the boat, right? I guess Guatemala has a tropical environment around the coast so the cities tend to be in the more arid, central part of the country--therefore, more of the excursions take quite awhile since there is a lot of travel time needed to get into the more populated part of the country. Fishing would be a little difficult for my five year old, though!!! I hope there is something available for us to at least experience some part of Guatemala.princess:

I haven't found much on this stop either. Of course, I think I could get to know the pool attendant quite well after 14 days of relaxing by the pool and sipping a cool beverage! Ports will be fun as I'm certain the Mexico ports and Castaway Cay will offer some fun.....if this one turns out to be a bust...oh well!!!

I'm sure they calculated how long it will take to get to the next port, given the speed of the ship. If they could have scheduled a late afternoon departure, they would have.

Yes, it's started, 20050514....... is the thread, come join us!

We haven't even received our excursions for the 10 day Disney Christmas Cruise this year! What we did was pull off the excursions for the ports Disney had already done and then we went to other cruise lines and did the same.

We will be lucky to see excursions before January I bet. I am going to check the web pages when I have time for the other cruise lines and the countries web pages to get more info.

On a princess cruise;-

CABO Visit to a glass factory and super resort complex.
Or boat trip to see sea life or beach day.

Acapulco Cliff divers, market, and again a super beach resort with reserved chair lunch etc

We had other different ports including rain forest trips and nature reserves.

When I was on a trip most of the Wester ports were tender in.

There was an 'unadvertised' stop at the entrance to the western end of the panama cannal for 6 hours 6pm to Midnight and our and three other cruise ships all refuled there,

Some cruisers organised taxis to panama city from there.

I saw for Cabo San Lucas there is a Pirate cruise!! My son is Very into pirates so I hope Disney offers this one! Basically, the whole crew is dressed as pirates on an authentic (and restored) ship and it includes a whale watching tour.

More on Guatemala...I saw on the Seven Seas Radisson site that the two excursions are a plane trip to the Mayan ruins (10 hours) and a tour of the capital city. For those on the west bound trip, from FLA, I think there might be time for the city tour. I hope Disney comes up w/ more options!

Curacao was loaded with lots of great excursions--a pristine beach, a city tour w/ a historic bridge, museum, etc. I am really excited about this port!:bounce: :bounce:

We were really hoping to do the Mayan ruins tour ($499 per person :earseek: ) but we won't be in port long enough  Oh well.

When we were on the eastern Magic cruise in Sept, we were told we'd be tendering into St Thomas, and I was concerned for my 82yo mil. As it turned out, we docked. Our tour guide said Disney gets priority because of all the children it traditionally carries. Now, whether this happens a lot, or will happen on a 14 day....who knows, but it sure was nice not to have to figure that time into excursions.

I am reading on here that people are saying Panama is NOT SAFE to get off the boat. I am not sure if there will be a chance for disembarking in any case, but I'm not thrilled with the reports of danger (especially abduction) in or near Colon by these travelers.
