Any rumors about Mama Melrose closing?

I posted the other day in the dining reservations forum that I couldn't get any reservations for MM for any date in 2016...with the Fantasmic package or without. Someone replied saying that no ressies are available after 12/12 for some reason. Is it just that MM hasn't released those reservations yet, or is there any chance that it is getting closed as part of the upcoming expansion? I have heard that the Muppets 3D is getting closed to make room for the expansion and Mama Melrose is right next to that theater, so it would kinda make sense...but I really hope it's not true. Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumor of this? Still hoping I'll be able to get ressies there for January at some point...just gotta keep stalking the reservation site for now! Thanks.

I think there is a good chance, given location, that they will either be closed and "reimagined" as part of the expansion OR, at least, shuttered during parts of the construction because that area will be inaccessible.

But we'll have to wait and see....we'll likely know more when D23 rolls around.

I heard this rumor, but I was just able to log on and get times for January 20th, 2016, so I think that that should quash the rumor. Have you tried booking again recently?

I do expect it to close at some point in the expansion. Currently with the announcement with of Osborne Lights, the expansion is either going to start later then we expected. Or they are doing it on phases, doing the area behind TSM first then branching out to other spaces.

I think stages is going to be how the majority of this happens.

It's actually been a rumor with the DHS construction project. Most things are on the table to go away but we don't know for sure at this time.

It would be bad to close it too early. There are so few dining options, TS or QS, in DHS as it is. Closing it before anything new opens could be a recipe for disaster. Thank goodness there's still a hot dog cart near LMA and Epcot is only a short boat ride away.

I have reservations in November and super excited. One of the restaurants we have not eaten at yet in HS. At least we get to eat there if it's true.

This seems to be the only way that makes logical sense given the current state of the park and the *supposed* magnitude of the expansion/reimagining.

I hereby start a much more detailed rumor (with no basis of fact) that, as part of the overhaul/expansion of Pixar Place, Mama Melrose is going to change names to Linguini Gusteau's, will add a few popular French dishes to the existing Italian menu (which would remain for existing fans of the restaurant...ergo, the addition of son Linguini's name to the restaurant name), will bring tiny animatronic Remy out of retirement from Les Chefs de France and will be moved within the park such that the front door/sign of the restaurant would be across the "street" from the exit of [begin unfounded rumor no. 2] the new Ratatouille boat ride, in which the queue would be the old lady's house at the beginning of the movie, the ride vehicle would resemble a giant cookbook, and the ride itself would follow Remy's ride through the "rapids" between the house and Paris. But again...that's just a rumor with a questionable source.

I don't see a ratatouille boat ride happening if anything we would get the ride from Paris but I don't see a boat ride. Was the source Jim Hill?

Ha! No on Jim, sadly -- at least that might have meant that such a thing could have at least been discussed (even if not seeing the light of day). The boat ride was simply part two of my made-up rumor about the restaurant. Guess I should have clarified that a little better.

As I've said before, I am more than a little annoyed that "Pixar Place" is sounding like it's just going to be focused strictly on Toy Story and not sharing the wealth among the huge amount of Pixar IP out there that would make for great rides/attractions. I guess two existing Toy Story rides (DHS and MK) apparently are not enough.

Sorry to highjack the OP's serious question about Mama Melrose and take it off on this tangent!

Even though there has been no definite announcements yet, I have been pretty worried about what is going to happen to that area in the future. Therefore, I made sure to book a Mama Melrose ADR several months ago for our upcoming September trip. Will also make Muppets 3D and Indiana Jones priorities, being as they both are constantly in the rumor mills as potential casualties.
