Any rules about sharing entrees?

Hi -
Just wondering (other than buffets of course) if there are any rules against sharing entrees at WDW restaurants? We are not hugh eaters and I'd rather share an appetizer and entree and dessert to be able to try different things.

Other than the buffets you mentioned, anything that is all you can eat (like the skillet at WCC) would be off limits.

Otherwise any single serving entree that you want to split is just fine at Disney. :goodvibes

I just wanted to warn you that meals are usually split in the kitchen and the chefs can be generous with the side dishes. For example, if order a steak and fries, you would each get half the steak but probably an almost full portion of the fries. I don't know about desserts but instead of getting three spoons to share our cheese soup at LeCellier, we each got a 3/4 full bowl of spoon instead (and charged for one).

You say this like it's a bad thing! :) Thanks for the tip. I might suggest splitting some things with my SO in the future! We do that at other restaurants around town.

DH and I are big sharers and we've never had a problem at WDW. The portions at the restaurants are so huge, that we've sometimes not even made it to dessert after a shared app and entree.

What can we do if we're on the dining plan? The only res we could get for Coral Reef is lunch, but we're more breakfast and dinner eaters? Could we use 1 adult credit for one adult entree and ask them to split it? Both the kids could use their own credits for each of their meals?

Regarding the dining plan sharing....I think that it is officially no, but individual restaurants may not have a problem with it. You couldn't do the sharing option if there were people at the table paying cash and not having the dining plan.

You may want to add an appy, it depoends on what you order but some of the portions, IMHO were small and enough for one, not for 2

Enjoy!:thumbsup2

I'm so glad to hear that sharing shouldn't be a problem. A shared appetizer and entree are usually sufficient for us as well.

We also share food often, and never had an issue. If possible, the items have been split by the kitchen, everyone was very accommodating. Plus sharing the app and entree saves room for wine and dessert. FWIW.

Some of the restaurants seemingly won't let two adults split a TS credit on the DP, so this could get tricky for you. They are may charge you both a TS credit or perhaps the second adult needs to order something to pay OOP, say an appetizer, soup, etc.

FWIW we absolutely loved Lunch at Coral Reef last summer. We were starved when we arrived and ate everything they put in front of us. There was absolutely no way we were sharing an entree between us and that was back when appetizers were included in the DP! Lunch at Coral Reef isn't that different from a dinner menu. Personally I think you'd be missing out by not getting your own entrees.

From what I hear, the portions aren't huge at Coral Reef. You might want to each get your own meal.

We are not going to use our 15 daughters 2 TS credits at Yatchman. She just does not eat that much and really likes the kids menu at most places. We will get her a salad and hopefully they will be alright with us giving her a little of our steak. Do you think we might have a problem?

That should be fine. You can pay OOP for any meal you want, so if its her kids meal that should be fine. FYI she should be able to order her own kids steak at Yachtsman. We paid OOP for our 6yo's kids meal at Narcoosse's, $6 vs 2TS Child credits.

I'm confused. Isn't your 15 year old daughter too old to order from the kids' menu?

I haven't seen age restrictions noted by DISSERS. Many have indicated that adults (especially seniors) and even older "kids" select from the children's menu. I did not do this on my DP trip in 2007, however on two occassions I selected my dessert from the kids menu as part of my DP meals. Keep in mind that the parents intend to pay OOP for her meal.

Ok. Good to know. I know that most restaurants around here won't let adults order from the kids menu. It's not nearly as profitable.
