Any rides for lap babies...?

Hello. I'm a new member planning a trip for my wife and I and our 9 month old. She'll be 10 months and about 20lbs when we take our trip to Disney World this November and I wanted to ask all the families here if they knew of any rides that allowed for the baby to held in a parent's lap, since my daughter is far from the 40 inches tall that most rides seem to require.

I've been looking online and in guidebooks for some time, but all I've managed to figure out is that whenever a ride says "Child Swap Available" it means absolutely no babies. For something like Space Mountain or Expedition Everest that's obvious of course. But for the slower-moving rides like Haunted Mansion and the Winnie The Pooh and Snow White rides -- can you hold a baby on those?

I was wondering specifically if anyone here has taken a baby to Disney World and if they had any personal experience on rides carrying a baby in your lap, etc.

Many thanks in advance!!!!

Disney is very baby friendly- as an example in MK you can bring the baby on every ride in Fantasyland, TTA, Buzz lightyear, tea cups, haunted mansion, jungle cruise, train just to name a few. Epcot you will have to child swap for Mission Space, TT, and Soarin- baby can go on everything else. Have a great time and you will be surprised at how much there is to do with the baby We have 4 children and all have been as babies. HAVE FUN!

We took DS last year when he was 10 months old and had a great time. There weren't many rides in MK that he couldn't/didn't go on, I think just the Mountains really.

We didn't do many rides in Epcot just because we were busy eating our way through WS for F&WF. But DS loved Journey Into Your Imagination. We did the baby swap thing for Soarin' and MS.

AK is prett baby friendly, too. We took DS on Kilamanjaro Safari and he slept the whole time, even with the bumpy ride. I know they can't go on Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids, and the "mouse trap game" (sorry can never remember the name of that ride), but most of the rest are okay.

And MGM only has a few unfriendly to small people rides like RR, ToT, and Star Tours.

We actally didn't go on as many rides as I thought we would because DS often fell asleep while we were in line or on the ride so we'd put him in the stroller after and wait for him to wake up to do anymore. WDW is so stimulating that it wears them out.

My advise is to take it easy and enjoy your trip. Don't try to do it all and play it by ear, letting your little one dictate what you do/don't do. And don't worry, you'll find plenty of rides to take her on.

We are taking our DS next week and he is 10 months. He will be riding everything he can. :teeth: We can't wait!

From what I understand a baby can go on any ride with you that does not have a height restriction. At least that is what we found with our 2 year old in January.

I wouldn't say that "most" rides had the 40" height restriction.

I would think you could do virtually everything in Fantasyland - I'm planning on my DD (13 months) being a lap baby, and will take her on most things without a height restriction if allowed!!

We took DS at 8.5 mos, 14 mos, and 17 mos...so far so good. We honestly don't run out of things to do. For those rides that he can't go on, you can do babyswap (for us it has only been Soarin' and EE). You can definitely take them on rides like Snow White,Winnie the Pooh, Haunted Mansion (although scary) etc. DS loves the rides in Fantasyland at MK...that is the best for that age, but we also took him on the ride in Mexico (fairly similar to "it's a small world". We took him on the movie ride in MGM and that was a bit much for him. Many other attractions that are okay for him though...Muppet Movie, Disney's Playhouse at MGM, believe it or not, he loved the movie at France this past trip at 17 mos...really, there's alot for little ones...just don't push it and you will be okay!

Robin ~ how did you let your 10 month old get exercise throughout the day?

Our son just turned 6 mos old, and will be crawling by the end of the weekend, I predict. He wants to go go GO. Our daughter started pulling up and cruising just 2 weeks after she crawled (6.5 mos also). When we booked this trip, we were banking on him being quite content in the stroller at almost 9 mos old. Now I am getting pretty worried!!

While he does like his stroller, and is a content baby, he sure seems to need his 'floor time' for crawling and exploring. How do you do that spending a day in the parks??

The Child Care Centers in each park is a great place to let the kids get some floor time.

We refer to the Peter Pan ride as the "Scariest ride at Disney world" because our daughter - a little one like yours at the time - was so fascinated, she kept trying to lean out over the edge of the flying boat to see down below. We got a full upper body workout on that one! :)

We just got home last night from our trip with our 6 month old dgd. She was able to ride everything at Fantasyland (except Teacups because everyone wanted to spin it very fast). She did Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Jungle Cruise. Everything at MK except Splash, or the other roller coasters.

Here's some tips for going to WDW with an infant: at TS restaurants, they won't allow a stroller in there unless your infant can't sit up. Dgd can't sit up on her own yet, so they always allowed us to bring in her stroller. They asked at every restaurant how many months old she was. Chef Mickeys actually has a high chair for infants!! It's a high chair that has an infant seat attached to the top. But they did give us the option if we wanted to bring in our stroller. We opted to leave our stroller and use the infant high chair instead. The waitress was great for heating up bottles. This was our first trip to Chef Mickeys and we LOVED it. The Land Pavillion wouldn't let us bring in our stroller. The baby was sleeping and we had to still take her out of the stroller. It's kinda big in there and if you don't have a baby carrier to use, then you will have to hold the baby (and all the baby stuff) while you are in there. Fantasmic also won't let you bring in a stroller. And if you have a WDW rental stroller, you have to take everything out of it first. You won't get your same WDW rental stroller back after the show. Just to get a seat at Fantasmic, you have to get there early, so that's a long time to hold a wiggly infant or toddler. It will probably be a LONG time before we do Fantasmic again. I can't see an active toddler sitting still for that long.

We just got back from WDW on Saturday with our 3 kids, youngest DD is almost 14 mo. (we also went last year when she was turning 3 mo.). She rode everything that doesn't have a height restriction both last year & this year.

Someone mentioned about strollers. We were allowed to take her stroller into restaurants if she was sleeping and she is 14 mo. no problems whatsoever. The only places you can't take strollers into are rides & The Land at Epcot so plan to do that when your baby is well rested.

Have a great trip!!!!!!
