I'd like to ask if anyone has a reviews & pictures on Chefs de France & Tusker House. Is Mickey Mouse always @ TH breakfast? Is Chef Mickey or Tusker House yummier?? I have NEVER been to WDW w/o going to CM but want something = as good but new. TIA.:cutie:

I can comment that I actually prefer Tusker House to Chef Mickey's, especially for Breakfast. I use to enjoy Chef Mickey's and made that a must every trip. However, lately I felt as though Chef Mickey's has been very dirty. I contribute that to the fact that there are so many birds that have gotten into the Contemporary. At the Tusker House there is a wide variety of food, that is all great tasting. One of my favorite things to do is make a morning reservations that are roughly 45 minutes to when the park opens. Then I can eat my breakfast, finish up and catch the first ride of the day on Kilamanjaros Safari. I would definitely recommended the Tusker House to anyone.

Are you asking about Chef Mickeys which is a character buffet at the Contemporary Resort serving breakfast and dinner OR Chefs de France at the French Pavillion in Epcot that is a sit down full service restaurant that serves lunch and dinner?? :confused3

We had a great experience at Chefs de France on our last trip -- it was our favorite meal. Our server was brand new, had just arrived from France the week before and was so excited to be there. She was so sweet. Our food and service was excellent!!

Tusker House is on our short list to try for breakfast on our next trip too.

Yes The French one. Considering both TH & CdF. I've been to CM about 2o some times, lol! This will actually be the 1st year w/out it. But I'm thinking TH in it's place.

Ahh, wasn't sure. I have a review of CDF on my dining website if you'd like to take a look. It is from last year but the DISer who submitted it really enjoyed it. There are photos as well. http://www.disneydiningreviews.com/chefs-de-france-epcot.htm

I will have one of Tusker House soon. Check out the 8 days - 14 ADR's thread in this forum :)

We ate at CdF last summer, and the food was very good. If you eat here, book an ADR to coincide with the time that Remy will be coming around on a cart...so cute!

We went to both last trip.

Chefs de France had spectacular food and our waiter was great. He barely spoke English and my wifes 10 year old French from college was comical. I think my limited Spanish was a bigger help. We have 2 days in Epcot when we go back next trip and Chefs will be on our list once again. We will be trying Bistro for the first time next trip as well.

Tusker house had the worst breakfast food of all our breakfasts. Very 'plain'. It wasn't bad food, just compared to 1900 Park Fare the day before, it was... sub par. Again, the food wasn't bad, it was just very... plain and generic.

The experience (outside of the food) was great. The safari conga line fun and character interactions were wonderful.

We will be returning to Tusker on our next trip for a few reasons. #1, limited TS choices at AK. #2 it was fun enough that getting a first thing ADR means we can get in the park early and beat the crowds an be done eating by rope drop.

Plus I love seeing Donald and Daisy. The safari attire is icing on the cake IMO!

Here is my feeble attempt at using movie maker to do a video of it from our last trip-

I meant to go back and try again but I stay busy an forgot about it.

Tusker House has amazing food (only been to breakfast, but im so excited to try lunch for the first time this August!). They have one of the best breakfast buffets ive ever had. And ive pretty much tried all the breakfast buffets! Personally i didnt like C.Mickeys breakfast at all, food quality was bad, as was the selection. Tusker is way better in my opinion.

Cute video! Thanks for the honesty on the food. & thanks for the many reason to try it! I'm not 100% on it yet but the atmosphere looks perfect! & I have ALWAYS loved Daisy Duck!

Thanks! i'm glad you enjoyed it!! This will only be 1 of our 2 character meals & I feel like one of them HAS to feature Mickey Mouse since my DS LOVES him! + since we have never been here it'll be something new. I have always loved CM since I was little breakfast & dinner. + We LOVE the CR. So this will be brand new for us.

Chefs de France... AWESOME!!! one of the best meals I have had at Disney. So delicious. Service was outstanding. Waiters and waitresses are really there to serve and please you and meet your needs.

My 8 year old loves Tusker House for breakfast and I myself love the potatoe wedges. We just got back from Disney and this trip she opted for Tusker House over Chef Mickey's.

Here's my review i did from August 2011...

We had a 1pm ADr at Chefs de France.

We did arrive early and we were sat right away. We had a great seat in the front atrium. We were not right on the window but we were close enough. The room was still pretty empty. Again, contrary to what I hear all the time, we did not feel like we were on top of our neighbors.

Our server was Flavie and she was great! She was a little hard to understand but she was patient. We were really hot so she brought us all water and then took our drink order. We had the usual. Flavie was very friendly with the kids, especially Skyler. Skye really liked her!

We ordered our appetizers and were brought our bread...

http://

It;s not our favorite kind of bread but the kids love bread services so it was not wasted! It was a firm, crusty bread that was warm and soft on the inside. The one thing I don't get it why they serve froxen butter pats with it???

While we were waiting for our appetizers, Flavie came back and asked the kids questions about France. And then she told them about what France is known for and things like that. She told them how to say a few things in French. She really spent a long time at our table talking to them and teaching them about France.

When our appetizers were ready, she brought Skye's Salade Verte (Mixed green salad). It was supposed ot have no dressing but it was dressed, and well, that just wasn't going to happen so Flavie took it back and came back with a whole new one right away.

She picked out the things she liked of it and left the rest. She even ate some of the "weird" lettuce.

I had the Soupe a l'oignon gratinee (The classic onion soup topped with gruyere cheese)...it's my favorite! Lou makes a pretty great onion soup but it is never the same as in France...

Ooooohhhhh, it was so good...I wish I had some now!

And Tyler...well, Tyler did not see much he really wanted for an appetizer so he decided to get Cassolette d'escargots de Bourgogne au beurre persille (Casserole of burgundian escargots baked in parsley and garlic butter). Now, we've never had snails before...and we really did not know what to expect. We knoew what they looked like from dining here in the past and seeing them delivered...so we knew they woudl not look like a snail.

Well, they look weird. You really cannt see the snail. So i had to be the brave one and try it first...or he wasn't gonna. So I did. And you know what? They kinda taste like mooshy shrimp. But the broth they were in was awesome...garlicy, pesto-y, mmmm...and maybe that is what I liked best about them. Tyler tried one and that was enough for him. BUT, he said it was ok. And I think his issues was less with that it was a snail and more with that he's not a sause kinds guy. I mean this kid does not "dip". He doesn't eat casseroles or soup or gravy. So I think without the broth, he may have liked them better...but that is still to be decided. I think we ate about four of them.

I'll put the rest in the next post...

So after we were done with our appetizers, our entrees arrived...

Skye had Blanc de Poulet Aux Nouilles (Breaded chicken strip served with pasta)...

...two of her favorite things! She loved it and ate a lot of it!

I had Croque monsieur et sa salade verte (the classic French toasted ham and cheese sandwich served with a green salad).

I had been watching reviews of this for a long time. I love me a good sandwich. But for every good review, there was a bad one. So I was worried. I shouldn't have worried though...it was sooooo good! But I could only eat about half of it! I was very disappointed. I did take it with me but with all the food we had, I never ate it. But it was really good. The cheese was nicely gooey, there was the right amount of ham. The whole sandwich is french toasted (so it was put together, dipped in teh egg wash and then cooked) and nicely browned! It was a perfect sandwich! And the salad was really nice and refreshing...went perfectly with the sandwich...fried would have been too much.

Tyler had Demi poulet fermier roit, Pommes puree au basilic et tomate braisee
(Half of an all-natural rotisserie chicken, basil-flavored mashed potatoes and braised tomato).

I have had this before but thought it was too dry. He thought the chicken was great. The potatoes were awesome...they were chunked and the outside was crispy (like crunch when you bite them crispy) and the middle was soft. They were like really good french fries.

While we were eating, we had a visitor...

He was really cute. The kids loved figuring out how he worked. Remy asked us if we had any pets. And when we said a dog, he was ok with that but when we said we had a cat, well, he was not happy. Them Marie ran by outside the window and stopped and watched remy through the window. She did that a few times while we were there. It was pretty funny.

For dessert, Skye had Choix de Glace ou Sorbet (Choice of Ice Cream or Sorbet - vanilla, chocolate or sorbet of the day)...

She opted for plain old boring vanilla. But she liked it so that's all that mattered!

I had the Crepe a la pomme et cannelle, glace vanille, caramel jus de pommes (Crepes filled with cinnamon, apple, vanilla ice cream and apple caramel sauce)...

It was not what I planned on getting...I don't know what I got it...but I am glad I did. It was very good. And while I don't want to say it was a lite dessert, it was not as heavy as a lot of the desserts we had on the trip and it was different than my usual choices so it was refreshing.

Tyler got a chocolate cake with vanilla gelato and strawberry sauce. I don't see it on the allears menu and it is listed on the receipt as "chocolate cake".

It was very rich and good! He loved it...and I believe, ate it all!

All in all, we love Chefs de france. We love the service, the food, the choices, the venue, all of it.

We spent 2 adult and 1 kid's credit but would have paid $94.70 out of pocket. We left a $17.00 tip.

We left at 1:26pm so we must have been seated really early because we were by no means rushed out of there and we took our time enjoying our meal.

We will definatley be back here...

I didn't read the responses so I'm just throwing in my opinion here...

Tusker House is hands down without a doubt our FAVORITE character meal. We are "open minded" eaters and LOVE the food variety. As a matter of fact, it's currently the only buffet meal we have planned for our August trip (and we have tried almost all of them)

Chefs de France...ick. First experience was gross and had terrible service. Thought it was a fluke and tried again another trip. Service was even worse the second time and the meal was so-so at best. Too many other great WS countries to eat it to get us back there. I LOVE "real" French food so it wasn't a matter of not being interested in the offerings.

TY &SKY::::::Wow that food looks fantastic. The crepes look delish!!!!mmmm!!! THank you for posting for us!! Great pics of u & ur fam 2!!!

I have def. booked TH for Mickey Mouse!!! Maybe we can do CdF as well.;)

Well, I'm thrilled w/ ur TH review b/c I was nervous about the food but LOVE MM & DD in the safari outfits!! This will be our 1st trip w/o Chef Mickey's so this is our Mickey meal. Now, I'm exited. I can tell u'd tell the truth if u didn't like it from ur CdF review. :lmao: But all honesty is appriciated!!!
