Okay not to drive this into the ground but I just want to know the bottom line....

I emailed Walt Disney World and below is the official line I got about the dining plan and adult vs. child credits.

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

Please know that the dining credits are per person - per adult and per child.

The Disney Dining Plan includes One (1) Table Service Meal, One (1) Counter Service Meal and One (1)
Snack per person, per night for everyone in the party ages 3 and up. Guests may use their Meals and
Snacks in any order and any amount throughout their stay until the total is depleted. Guests should
present their Key to the World card to their server prior to ordering. Children ages 3 to 9 must
order from the children's menu where available. Children under the age of 3 may share from the
adult's plate if desired. The package must be purchased for all persons in the party age 3 and up
for the total number of nights in the Resort.

We hope this information is helpful.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

I have received a very different answer when calling on two different occasions reserving ADR's. I think the above is the offical line but in reality the practice of it is quite different. I have come to the conclusion it comes down to restaurants and servers on how this is handled.

Are there any servers on this board that can tell me the scoop from their perspective?????? Is there any way you can tell which is Adult and which is Child on my Key to the World other than looking at the people in the party? I know that the key will say for example 2A, 1C but how can you know how many adult credits have been used and how many child???

Thanks for the input

There is no such thing as a child credit. You only have TS or CS credits. Every single person that has ever used the dining plan will confirm this. Several of the front desk CMs at the resorts have reported that they were instructed by their supervisors to remind guests that they can pay for thier children out of pocket and use the TS credits for the adults.

The plan is subject to change. Some have heard "rumours" that the plan will change at some unspecified time in the future to include child credits, but so far there has been no official or unofficial word on this.

I think there is a difference between Adult and Child. In another recent thread it states that 2006 dining plan rates are slightly higher.

$37.99 for adults and juniors, $10.99 for children.

Yes, there is a price difference between adult and child. I just purchased my package for January 2006 yesterday. However, I believe that you can still use the credits as you wish until they are gone. We have a three night package for the four of us so that is 12 table service credits altogether. I plan on paying out of pocket for my children ages 8 and 10 because they still eat child sized portions and have a child's palate. My 10 year old son is not happy eating filet mignon. :sad2:. But that is his maturity level at the present. He will eat most of the snack credits though. ;)

I am looking forward to our trip and I like the dining plan as it is now and will continue to purchase it in the future. :sunny:

I have all our Table Service planned out with the assumption that I can use my credits any way I want.....I'll be disappointed to arrive and find out that's not the case or it is not consistent between all restaurants.

I have 15 Table Service Credits (10Adult, 5 Child)

We plan to eat at:
Boma
CRT (2)
Ohana’s
California Grill (2)
1900 Park Fare

That comes to 21 credits. If I pay for our child out of pocket at every meal it will be 14 credits (so one to spare) The out of pocket child meal cost is approx. $57.

So I have a great plan... :cool1: Let's hope it works!!!

That price is for DVC members if they want to add the plan. As far as if that's the price for non-DVC members who want the dining plan, I do not know. I was thinking the DVC price was higher because it wouldn't be tied to a package or tickets or hotels (since DVC members have already paid for the accomadations).

That's what we paid as non DVC members for our upcoming trip. I think it's the same no matter what.
