Any recommendations for a Detroit airport hotel?

We're booked at the nearby Comfort Inn since we stayed there a few years ago and it was reasonably priced. However, current reviews of it are pretty bad. Any other hotels you'd recommend? Price is the biggest factor, because we don't need a 4 star hotel or anything for just a few hours of sleep and parking during our trip. Thanks!

The Westin at the Detroit Airport if you are flying out on a Fri/Sat/Sun. Rates are $149 plus taxes for room and 10 nights parking. It is so nice to pull your car to the front door and have it taken away. The hotel is right inside Mcnamara terminal so you wake up and just walk over to the check in. It is a beautiful hotelThe best part is when you get home. While you are waiting for your luggage, just phone up and they will bring the car to the front door. You just go up a floor on the elevator and your car is there, all warmed up.

I agree with the Westin. It is worth the extra cash. It is convenient!

We stayed at the Westin on our last trip in February. I don't think that I would stay there again. We actually found it more of an inconveinence (other than the valet parking). It took probably 10-15 minutes to get from the entrance where you leave your car to our room - a fair bit of walking when carrying a bunch of suitcases! We wanted to have a beer the evening we arrived but the little bar was so packed there wasn't even room to stand anywhere. The security entrance at the hotel was lined up more than the one inside the terminal the morning of our departure and the inside security check has a family line - families with small children bypass the main line. Also, if you are checking any bags you can't use the hotel security checkpoint.

Friends of mine always stay at the Days Inn Detroit Airport and they also have a parking package. They have a shuttle - you walk from your room to the lobby (which certainly wouldn't be the distance of the Westin rooms to the terminal) - and they drop you off right at the door of the terminal (like all airport hotels). They also have a little bar and grill in the hotel.

We've stayed at both the Westin and the Fairfield Inn (with a parking package). We found the Westin convenient. We went through security to have dinner in the airport and there was no line up to speak of. Our flight left before the hotel security line opened, but we didn't find it a big deal to go around the the regular security line.

The Fairfield Inn is a good option too. Modern hotel. Prompt shuttle. No complaints, other than the fact that once the couch was pulled out, there wasn't much room to move around the room (that's pretty common, IMHO).

We always use the fairfield inn. We like that it is right next to the park n fly so you can keep your car until the morning and then move it over and go straight to the airport. That way you can pack an overnight bag for the hotel and leave it in the car. As well depending on how many nights you are away you can deduct the night you are at the hotel as it has free parking. It also has a decent enough breakfast.
