During our next trip in June DH & I hope to put the kids in child care while we have one dinner alone. It will be the first part of our trip while we are at the AKL so we want to pick a restaurant nearby. I looked at the menus at Deb's site and I think we will like Boma's the best. Just wondering if anyone has eaten there recently and what they though of it.

TIA!

Jill

Hi Jill!
Wel, BOMA is our favorite place at WDW...
The last time we were there was this past January and it was fabulous as usual!

We have had dinner there about 5-6 times and breakfast once.
Both are great!

Must try the desserts (yes, all of them LOL!) !! :)

Great choice!

I am a huge Boma's fan, however for a nice quiet dinner alone, I think I might try Jinko instead. The first time we went to Boma's it was Sept 17, 2001 - just after the terrorist attacks and the place was EMPTY. The chef even prepared me a special vegetarian entree (though there was plenty of vegetarian options already there...). The chef and the waiter visted with us quite a while. It was a very quiet, romantic dinner. I have been back 3 times since - January, July and August and found it to be awful loud. The food is good, but it got hard to carry on a conversation.

Just my opinion...

My entire family loved Boma the last time we vsited WDW in December. When we go back in August, we are staying at AKL and will definitley be visiting Boma again !!
It is, however, a bit loud and noisy. (It is a buffet)
There is a kid's club at AKl. I'm not sure if it is for resort guests only, but I do know my daughter loved the Neverland Club at the Poly. We were not staying in the Poly, we were at WL but were able to make ressies for our daughter to spend an evening at the NC.

Have Fun!!

Just ate at Boma last week. We had a group of 4 adults and 2 kids and we all LOVED it!!!!! All of the salads were fresh, there was plenty of fresh fruit, flat breads with great dips, 5 different type of soups(try the plantain corn chowder-yummy), salmon, pork and prime rib. And the desserts were awsome!!!!!

I think Jiko's would be a quieter/more romantic dinner, but the food at Boma wouldn't disappoint you!

We ate at Bomas in jan and it was fantastic. If you like buffets this is one not to be missed. Every once in a while someone will post that they did not like it but most people enjoy tring the different foods. They also serve many american favorites!

Is it essential to have a PS for Boma?? I would like to try it but DH isnt convinced, so its likely to be a last minute thing. Would that be OK, or would it be pointless to just turn up?

Thanks.
Allie.

Hi Allie,
If you were to show up during the week, you could probably get seated within 45 minutes. Or, you could even call that day and see what they have available. I noticed a really large crowd on Saturday night so I probably wouldn't pick that day just to show up.

We tried Boma's in March and it was our favorite meal at WDW. We decided to go there at the last minute so I called and got a PS for the time I wanted which was in two hours (7:30 p.m.) It was very busy when we got there and I would say that we waited about 10 minutes and people that walked up without a PS were told it was a 30 minute wait. I guess if you're not sure now about going to Boma you could probably wait until you get to WDW and your chances would still be good to get a PS. ;)

We just ate at Boma last week, and it was delicious. It is so fun to try everything. I must say my DS 4 and DD 20months loved the food on the kids' pods. If it is in your budget, you might want to try Jiko. I was afraid to take my kids there because I have heard that the meals can last a long time, but it gets great reviews on this board. Whatever you decide, have some great alone time!

Boma's was actually not one of my favorites in the past...however we were entertaining friends from FL, and I knew they would enjoy it (the whole ambience of AKL), so we went back for a 4th time. The waitress told us they made changes because a lot of people didn't like the strange spices in some of the foods. The favorites were still there, but we really enjoyed the meal this time around. We felt more like we were in a higher class restauant with the great sauces and flavors. The waitress gave us a form to fill out for recipes we really enjoyed, and the recipes were in my email by the time we got home. It didn't seem as noisy, although it was as crowded..we thought they had put up some drapes across the ceiling that we didn't remember from before..and if so, that may be why it was quieter.
A much better and very enjoyable experience this time around. Very glad we went.
