I got "outed" during our second ride. My son got a big kick out of it. :cool1:

If they had one of those "I am the Rebel Spy" shirts in black, I was all over it!:rotfl2:

We had one in our party. He was a little guy and upset about it, lol. He thought he was in trouble with someone and got embarrassed. Once we explained it, he was good to go though.

Rode it 9 times and we were never the rebel spy, but my son still bought the blue "I am the Rebel Spy" t-shirt. :confused3

We also never visited the underwater planet.

Kids favorite sequences were the fight against Boba Fett's spaceship & Princess Leia's hologram.

We rode three times and I was praying that my son did not get picked. He would have been completely freaked out. He takes his star wars so seriously and is always on the good side:)

But rebel spies are on the good side. :confused3

The rebel spy is on the good side though.

Shoot then I should have been hoping he got picked. That just shows you how little I know about Star Wars. My poor DS6 is pretty much on his own because neither my DH or I are star wars fans and he is a huge fan.

I got picked once! It was really funny (and my friend got a kick out of it).

I was picked when my sister and I rode it on our recent trip. Afterward she got me one of the "I am the Rebel Spy" shirts.
How do they choose the Rebel Spy? Does it just go by the seat you're in, or is there some other way they choose it? My mom is absolutely convinced I got picked because I was wearing a black fedora (never mind that it's not that kind of spy ), which makes me wonder if it works like in the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, where people get picked for stuff based on their appearance. In any case, my sister and I both thought it was hilarious.
(Also, I wonder if they ever get the gender of the spy wrong, since they did specifically refer to me as "she" at one point, which was correct, but my appearance is so gender-neutral that people sometimes get confused when they see me. Somehow I could just see someone else who also looks rather neutral being called the wrong pronoun...:rotfl2:)

My 5 yo DS got picked once and also Mom and 10 yo DS of our friends that were with us. (I think we rode it 16 times or something.)

I think (and hope) it's totally random.

BTW, I see they have an "I am the Rebel Spy" pin. Doing some SERIOUS thinking about that. lol

We rode 3x on the first day of soft opening and my mom was the rebel spy on our first ride.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I had read that they pick the rebel spy by scanning for someone who doesn't have their glasses on yet. My moms weren't on yet. ON our subsequent 2 rides the rebel spy's were in different seats and neither of them had their glasses on either.

I got picked! My family went nuts and from behind me a guy yelled in a booming voice, "You Rebel Scum!!". :lmao:

Of course, they had to explain it to me after the ride. I didn't understand I was the "good" guy.. :rolleyes1

Mine were on already when I was chosen, albeit over my regular glasses that have thick black frames, so it's possible that it looked like I didn't have the 3D glasses on. We only rode once, so I wasn't able to watch for any patterns regarding who was chosen.

Yeah, I didn't know until I read here that the Rebel Spy is good- neither my sister or I know very much about Star Wars. Kind of a fitting coincidence that this was the same ride that, while in line, I found (and turned in to one of the CMs) $40 that somebody had dropped on the floor.

I read that too, and when we rode, the woman who was picked did not get her glasses before she and her companion boarded the ride. The CM grabbed glasses for them both just before starting up the ride.

We rode Star Tours about 10 times during our trip. None of us were ever picked, though my son tried really hard to be the rebel spy. The spy was never in the same seat, so it appears to be random. There was one time that a woman with 2 small children got on and 1 of the seats in her row was broken. They directed her to split up her party, to which she declined and was going to go back and wait for the next ride. A teenage young man offered to move so she could sit with both her children. He got picked as the rebel spy. So it also seems if you do something nice.....you get chosen.

As to the gender. The first 3 rides females were chosen, 2 adults and 1 small girl, and referred to as "she". I thought maybe it was always female, until a male was picked and they say "he". The first time we got the Yoda transmission he said "you must deliver them" safely. The next time he said "him". So they do seem to have a built in gender neutral video.
