Any reassurance to offer re: BCV?

I had been pumped that we had secured 7 nights in a 1BR at BCV. But since making the reservation, I've been a bit concerned about some negative reviews.

Most people note the obvious: GREAT LOCATION.

But there are more than a few who refer to it as "dated" or "declining." Is this the case?

My fear is that given the high demand for this location, there is relatively little urgency regarding updates, etc. Thus, we may be a bit disappointed about the quality, or at least the lack of "freshness" of the accommodations.

Reason to be concerned or no? Any tips for getting one of the "better" 1BR or does no such option exist? Thanks in advance.

My advice is, go with an open mind and don't read any more reviews. It's a fantastic place, great location and you will love it. "Dated" is subjective; somebody might have seen some extra tread marks in a carpet or a scuff mark on a door. These things do happen. Overall, we love it and I'd be shocked if you don't as well.
There are people who can find negatives anywhere. I think if you search "Heaven" on TripAdvisor, you'd find a few people who "didn't care for the lobby, and found the pool overcrowded".

Those "dated" comments always get me. The theme at most of the DVC resorts is clearly stated and the decor fits the theme. If you want Hotel W, then you'd better stay there and not WDW. They've replaced the older CRT TVs with flat screens in most of the places, but members pay for those and if it means my dues go up, I can live with the CRT.

If you are a not a DVC member, you have no business complaining about the decor. Go stay somewhere else. Members pay for it, we all liked it when we bought it and it's all good with us.

We've stayed at BCV several times and found it delightful each and every time. No problems that weren't resolved when we brought them to someone's attention.

When are you going? If it is Aug 18-25th than I would definitely cancel your 1br BCV and book somewhere else.............hmmmmmmmmmmm did I mention I have a WL for that period?

Our family loves BCV! The theme of the resort is not modern/contemporary as some resorts are, so the decor in the villas may seem "dated" in that regard. However, I find the resort/decor charming and relaxing. We have noticed some wear in the rooms, but no more so than we see at any other resort. It's a great resort!

We were there this past March for the first time and thought the resort looked great. Our room was also in good condition. I think one cabinet door in the kitchen was a little loose, but we had 2 lightbulbs out and a broken ice machine in the THV on that trip as well. These little things just don't bother me. We loved both places. Relax and enjoy!:goodvibes

After having stayed at AKV, BLT, BWV, SSR and OKW, I had heard how great BCV were. Gave them a try in Jan. Not a big fan. Too hotelish for my taste as compared to others in my opinion.

Definitely go with an open mind. We loved the location and the amenities and would consider staying there again, even though we felt the room could use some TLC. I expected to love BCV, but the room itself didn't quite reach my expectations (we were in a studio that felt shabbier than I expected).

Perhaps just manage your expectations - you'll either go and be pleasantly surprised or you'll go and think, this resort is awesome but I didn't love the room. Either way, you'll have a great time! :)

Just returned from BCV on 4/14. Liked it just as well as BWV & SSR. Stormalong Bay just can't be beat. Lots of chairs and shade with a great poolside bar. Like both quiet pools also. Easy to park our rental car. We ate at Beaches & Cream & Yachtsman which are easy to get too and had great food. Walked to France for a late dinner and got in easily on a Friday night. Had 2 bulbs out, no tissue box and a wet spot on the floor. Called housekeeping am and it was taken care of by the time we got back after lunch. Had a studio, 455 with the large balcony, sat and watched the upper part of Illuminations over the trees. Enjoyed it very much.

Stayed in a 1 bedroom at BCV 4/10-4/17. Room 410. room was in great condition and looked out over the quiet pool with a view of the MK fireworks. Location can't be beat. Bus service was great to parks as was boat service. Couldn't find anything to complain about.

We're heading back to BCV this November. We haven't stayed there in many years and we all can't wait to go back. At the time we went last time I remember reading some negative reviews and I was nervous and it was wonderful!!!

enjoy!

We stayed in studio room 412 the first week of April and it was great. I can only compare it to the villa at the Grand Californian that we stayed in last summer which is new... so I expected it to be more ran down that that. I had looked at many pictures online and was aware of the painted wood furniture, etc. of the beach theme. The location is awesome and most of the time we had the quiet pool hot tub to ourselves. I would highly recommend it to anyone! Just this morning my daughter made that comment that it would be great to walk over to Epcot and do another Kim Possible mission. Have a great time!

I would go and enjoy yourself. We were somewhat disappointed in BCV, but more because we had heard all the hype and none of the negatives. I don't like the location of the Villa's, at the back of the resort adjacent to the parking lot. Of course our villa was all the way in the back and it was quite honestly a hike to get to SAB or the main area's. Not undoable, but unexpected. Yes, the decor is somewhat dated, but it is not a new resort.....so don't expect everything to be perfect. Is it bad dated, no, but it is more used than what Grand Californian or other newer resorts.
