We are looking for a resort to stay in for last few days in April, first few days of May. Would like to stay on property but it's kind of expensive. Was thinking of POR but it's coming out to almost $200 a night and the room only has 2 double beds. Anyone know of another hotel on property that would be more of a bargain? We will have our own car. Thanks, Linda

Wow, I'm really surprised that a moderate is almost $200 now. You can try the values, but the price will be about $120 per night. The DTD disney hotels can be pretty reasonable if you go through priceline. I remember getting the hilton for $65 per night. At other times about $90. Also, Mousesavers often will list specials for the DTD hotels through their newsletter. You can sign up at http://www.mousesavers.com.

Go to wwwhotelkingdom.com and see what is available for that timeframe.

Cypress Pointe condos are a good value and close to downtown disney (not on the hotel blvd tho).

also, Marriott Residence Inn is near is a very nice hotel about a mile north of downtown disney.

You can probably get AAA rates at the mods. I agree they are pricy in spring/summer.

$200? a night for a mod? WOW!! :earseek:

Which is exactly what the huge market of Disney area offsite housing owners loves to hear, since you can get 5x the amenities at a fraction of the cost of a place like this! Check the boards...there are tons of great choices for staying offsite that will net you a much much nicer place at greatly reduced rate!

If you're at a "value" resort the transportation is going to be not that great anyhow, so you'll want a car, and you can then get to the parks in less time in many cases than it would take you even from DD! The savings can more than offset the cost of a rental car, especially if you use a service like priceline.com

We feel like we discovered an incredible secret when we first did this 2 years ago, and those staying onsite are paying too much for what they get. For the cost of what a couple we met paid 2 years ago for a suite at the Grand Floridian we could take 2-3 TRIPS to Disney!!

I just ran a check at Expedia for room rates between April 27 and May 3.

Hotel Royal Plaza $155 for Deluxe Tower Room

Doubletree Suites $153

Buena Vista Palace $179

Hilton $229

Disney Moderates for $165

Go to Expedia and use Lake Buena Vista, FL as your location
