So CRO rack quote was about $600 more than my AAA quote. Any reason NOT to use AAA? I went through the agent just because I am thinking of adding dining and I believe that is the only way to do it.

So am I correct in assuming I have to use a AAA agent to get a package with dining? And I am not even sure if I am doing dining or not at this point.
Any reason to not book through AAA?

I used AAA for our last two trips. We were able to save a good chunk of money on both trips. We also added dining to both trips. Yes, you must use a AAA agent in order to get the AAA discount with the dining plan.

What are the drawbacks? Well, you'll hear these common complaints on the DIS:

  1. You won't have control over the trip. Once you have the AAA agent book your trip, only the AAA agent can make changes. I never found that to be a problem, but I always research before and know what I want when I call the agent. BTW, you CAN make your own dining reservations, so there is still some control there. The question: "Is complete control worth paying an extra $600?"
  • AAA agents are not that great. The agent I use is pretty good, but I called a regional office. The TAs at my local office were not very good with Disney trips; they knew very little about the resorts. The general consensus around here seems to be that most AAA agents are clueless about Disney, but that hasn't been my experience. If you like the AAA TA, then go with him/her!
  • Other discounts are better. There are better discount opportunities out there. You can save a big chunk of change by getting annual passes. Florida residents save. You could buy points from a DVC member. All of these options are out there, but they require additional planning.

I have had great success using AAA. As always YMMV.

I got quotes from both and AAA was $1000 cheaper. For $1000 savings, I'll let my agent have control over my trip! As long as I can make my ADR's myself, I'm good. AAA agents - it's their job to make sure everything goes right. My advice, just make sure you get one who knows what they're doing. The agent I dealt with knows the ropes and is a Disney fan herself so I felt like I was in good hands. Just make sure you get one that knows Disney and has been doing it for a while.

If you buy a package thru AAA with dining they will give you a discount its usually good. Usually also Disney will come out with a code that will give almost the same discount or better. You cant combine the codes though :(
Sometimes disney will even come out with free dining which is awesome. We like to rent a car and one thing I like about AAA is that you can get a diamond pass for closer parking at the parks.
