Any reason not to upgrade to AP?

We were planning on getting Deluxe AP's for our visit in September and using them again next May. We will be staying at HoJo. So, without a hopper or a package paid for with our Disney Visa, we have no options for early entry. Is there any reason we shouldn't buy park hoppers to get the early entry and upgrade to AP's after we enter early? We wouldn't lose any money doing that would we? I know the start date on the AP would be the first day we use the hopper - that's no problem.

Related question: Can AP discounts and Disney Visa discounts be combined at the restaurants and shops that offer both?

I feel like a fish out of water here, but I got great results with my first post, so I think I'm hooked already :flower:

I think you should upgrade after using your early entry option--those FL lines can get long and there's no FP.

As for discounts, I'm pretty sure if you read the fine print from either the AP discount list or the Disney Visa list it'll say "cannot be combined with any other discount" somewhere.

Yes, get the parkhoppers first and then upgrade after you use the EE. Also make sure none of your days are block-out days. If they are, continue to use the hoppers until the last day of your visit!
