I am looking to book a trip from Oct 26th 2006 to 9th Nov 2006. I am trying to find out any reason not to do these dates.... the first week includes our half term from school but the second is in school time. Do these dates conflict with any american holidays anyone knows of?? Are the parks going to be extra busy??

Currently this is my best bet for taking the kids off school for only 8 days rather than 10 etc etc and still get 14 days away..

Any views/ advice appreciated!!!!

hi i think the first of the two weeks you have choosen will be busy as it's our half term plus mnsshp which is always busy but the second week tends to calm down a little as no american holidays that i know of and all our children go back to school hope this helps

I've never been then, but it sounds like it might work out nicely since it will include Halloween activities (i love Halloween).

And early November should be pretty quiet.

But i'm sure someone else on this board has actual experience with those dates.

We have been to WDW at the end of October for the past 2 years. We love it (despite running into Hurricane Wilma last year). The Food and Wine Festival is running at Epcot and of course, there is MNSSHP to look forward to.

The crowds may be a little busier than normal around Halloween but it's still not bad (but we are used to July crowds!) At the end of your stay is Jersey Week - Nov 4th - 11th, when the kids in the North East are off school so your last weekend might be a bit busy, but if you avoid MK on the Saturdayafternoon and night/Sunday, you should be OK (we avoid weekends there anyway). IMO the top tip for a Saturday is MGM - we found it quiet twice on a Saturday in July, as Saturday is a main travelling day for Americans ... but I digress.

excuse my ignorance but what is MNSSHP??

I have really resigned myself to the fact that the first week will be busy but I am trying to compromise between missed school time and a 14 day holiday!!

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

We go the last 2 weeks of October which is our half-term. The first week is generally very quiet with the last week October being busier. But busy only in comparison to the week before. Nothing at all like summer, Christmas or Easter. The crowds are still very manageable and you shouldn't worry about going at this time at all.

MNSSHP is a great bonus at this time of year. It is a separate ticket event but well worth it IMO just for the fireworks alone. And the kids loved the trick or treating.

Thanks for the info... it sounds like the October last week will be busy but as you say not as busy as summer etc.

Sounds quite good and the kids would love the halloween event!!

We have gone loads of time for Halloween, this year we are taking the children out of school the week before half term and of course half term. I have never found this time to be "busy". Last year we went May half term and I vowed never to go that time again as I thought it was way too busy and hot.

Enjoy it.

We went out October 28th in 2002 and it was the quietest I have ever found WDW everything was a walk on. We were planning to go back this same week this year (as it is Dh's birthday then) and I researched trip reports from 2005 to see if it was still a quiet week and it seems as if this is still the case. It will get busier from about the 4th when Jersey week hits and a lt of New Jersey families arrive but the last week October should be very quiet more so than earlier in the month.

We changed our plans and are now going the busiest week of the year between Christmas and New Year, now that WILL be a busy week.

We have been about 5 times in oct/nov and we love it. There's very little rain and the weather has always been perfect. We love to do MNSSHP and also like to join in the activities around the hotel at Halloween. We have never been bothered by crowds, some years it busier than others but nothing like it was when we went for new year. For me it's the perfect time, I just wish schools would give an extra weeks holiday in Oct rather than 6 weeks in the summer. Hope this helps, Maria pixiedust:

we went in 2004 23rd oct-6th nov.
we found it was the best time to go, not busy and the weather was still hot and not as humid. we had one very cold night at the end of the hol.

Just wanted to echo what others have already said - you've picked a great time to visit WDW! :sunny:

If we could still choose any time to visit, it would be October / November. Sadly, it's not an option for us at the moment with DDs' college / university timetables, but I'm sure we'll visit at that time again because we've enjoyed so many great trips at that time of year before.

Thanks for all the replies.... I have bitten the bullet and booked the flights!! (a bit premature maybe but paranoid about prices goinG up!)

Now just got to decide where to stay etc etc !!

Oh, the fun will really begin now.
For good advice on what to do check out some of the trip reports, if you can find some that went last year at the time you'll be going it'll give you a good insight as to what to do, when, and what not to miss!
