I'd like to have a good look around the Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Clubs and have a few meals around there, is there any problem parking at either resort and then going into Epcot from that side?

We're staying at OKW so have free parking anyway, it would just be easier logistically for us.

Also can anyone use the boat from there to the Studios and DTD??

Unless you are going at a crazy busy time you should be absolutely fine
Just explain to the security guy at the entrance to the car park that you are just visiting to have a look round and perhaps a bite to eat (Boardwalk Bakery anyone? :rolleyes1)
We always let them know we are staying on property as well, just so they know you aren't trying to skip the parking charges at the park - you'll have a parking pass for your resort anyway

Very rarely we have been given a three hour parking pass but only if the resorts are really, really busy

We usually walk from the Boardwalk area to the Studios rather than take the boat as it's such a lovely walk and probably just as quick. The boat ride is a very relaxing way to travel though

Pretty sure you can't get to DTD from Boardwalk by boat! But anyone can use the transport to Studios and Epcot.

Actually, you CAN take a boat from Boardwalk to DTD. You can also walk from Boardwalk to Epcot and DHS.

No you can't get a boat from BW to DTD as they are on completely different waterways.

You can get a boat to Epcot or DHS.

Also you shouldn't really park at a resort to visit a park. Parking at resorts is for guests of that resort and those dining and visiting the resorts.

It really annoys me when we stay at BLT and come back in the evening and can't park. Then after wishes you watch everyone walk back, get in the cars and drive off!

I certainly wouldn't plan on parking at an Epcot resort during Food & Wine though. Or during busy times like Christmas.

I wouldn't park there just to go into Epcot, I was planning on eating at one of the restaurants or cafes there and if we had time we could walk into Epcot for an hour or so, more so during the day rather than at night around firework time. It would be no hassle to drive back round to Epcot but I thought it might be easier to wander across as DH will have a motorised scooter.

Slightly off topic, do motorised scooters go on the boats at all?? If not then that would probably negate my question on parking at the Boardwalk/Yacht & Beach Club!

;)

The boats at the Boardwalk are the Friendship boats and you can definitely take a scooter on them.:thumbsup2

oh and another thumbs up for the Boardwalk Bakery. I had my most fav cupcake in there! It was the cappuccino one and was totally totally fan tas tic....I have tried most cupcakes at WDW, thank the snack credits for that one!!!!

If the Boadwalk is busy or there is a convention on they will probably ask you to park in the lot accross the road from the boadwalk - its the overflow lott, you then have to cross the road and can walk up past the convention center to the hotel. its a 10 min wall max.

Does Disney ever check / enforce this? Difficult to know what they could if you were hard-faced about it, as there's no check as you leave the car parks.

They can and do tow cars.

They will also refuse access to the parking lots.

They also have cameras (they are a bit hidden) on both entry and exit of the resorts that point at the licence plate of the cars.

We got refused at grand floridian as they ahd weddings and convnetions on and we have dinner reservations and stay onsite so had a parking pass.

At boardwalk i find it worse for parking when we go and have seen tow trucks a number of times. I wouldnt risk it personally as its not my car :-)

We always get a bus from okw to epcot and just walk through to broadwalk

Thanks for that! I thought I was going mad when I read the response to my original post!!!

I got back 3 days ago and parked at the boardwalk on three occasions with out any problems , once to visit epcot , once yo visit hollywood studios and once to eat at beaches and cream . Just drove up showed my id and said I was going to the boardwalk and was directed to self parking , we have done this for years .

It may well be the case that you 'got away with it' but, technically, you are not supposed to park at a resort to visit a park. Especially if, as your signature suggests, you are staying off-site. While there was nothing wrong with parking at the Boardwalk to visit the Boardwalk, you should have parked at Beach Club to eat at Beaches & Cream and, if you planned to visit Epcot and Hollywood Studios, you should have been honest about it and you would have then been informed that parking at the Boardwalk for that purpose was not appropriate.

Belive me I spend plenty of money on Disney property to cover weeks worth of parking fee's, and I dont belive I am causing any problems to anyone using one parking space for a few hours . I never used your term " got awsy with it " I just shared my experience and was HONEST as we did use the boardwalk on all three occasions in buying merchandise , good and drinks

And that, of course, is the problem. Having stayed at the Boardwalk resort and gone out in the evening, only to return to find we cannot park at the resort we are actually staying at because of all the people there to 'visit the Boardwalk', I can assure you IT IS a problem.

I'm with you. Admittedly, we did this once or twice when we first stayed on Disney property but we stayed at BC last year and karma bit us on the you know what. We rode around for ages as half the car park was already cordoned off for a convention. As we were walking in, we saw loads of people walking the other way to their cars. Although we've always managed to find a spot at BLT, we see the same thing there too, which surprises me as I thought they were a bit stricter at the monorail resorts.

I agree. It is a problem especially at BLT and Epcot resorts. I remember having to trek across from the furthest point of a car park when i was pregnant and carrying DHs beer (must have looked a right sight - pregnant and a case of beer! But DH had to carry a sleeping 2yo) I thought it was just bad luck but we later saw lots of people returning to their car after parks closed.

I agree with Joh - it's fustrating when you have paid a lot of money to stay at a resort and people think its OK to use it as theme park parking as "it's only a couple of hours" and you can't park at your resort.

They provide plenty of theme park parking for people visiting the parks :goodvibes

Interestingly we had no problems getting a space at BLT when the president was speaking at the contemporary even though they had shut a big chunk of the self marking for media trucks :rolleyes1

We've certainly driven to Chef Mickey's on several occasions for early breakfast and then walked to MK for the morning.

We stay on-site so not doing Disney out of money and it would be a faff to have to take the car to the main T&TC car-park. It's also a bit uncertain getting to a resort hotel early using Disney Transportation.
