Any Postal Workers?

Got a question....

Is there a way to address a package so that the person who receives the package can get it from "Tink", etc. (obviously excluding my mailing address) BUT, if for some reason it gets lost, etc they (USPS) can tell who the sender was so that it is returned to me. I want to send a surprise gift to someone. Any ideas.

Not really anyway to do it. We don't keep records of who sent the package. Any records we did have would have the same address and name found on the package(i.e. registered mail)
About the only way to send it without an address on the box is to put it only IN the box. And, if the person does receive it well it's there for their viewing too.
And, if they don't receive the package then the package will then go to the nearest Dead Letter office where it will sit for SOME time before it is ever opened!

I don't know if this would work for you...but what about sending it without a return address on the package itself, but paying for it to be sent delivery confirmation. Then you would fill out that little card they attach to the package with your return address but the mailman would pull it off to return to you upon delivery...unless your package got mangled and the little card somehow ripped off before delivery I think that it would work. If for some reason they could not deliver the package, your return address would be staring them in the face on the little delivery confirmation postcard thing that is attached to the package.

Then again, I don't work in the post office so double check this info before you use it...but I have mailed "secret" surprises to my nephews that way in the past. Okay, it may be called certified mail or delivery confirmation...I cannot remember but one of the two you get a postcard you fill out at the PO with your return address on it back after the package delivers as confirmation of delivery...I think it's delivery confirmation.
