i write a lot of poetry in my spare time and always crave criticism and feedback...but my friends never want to take the time to read my poems and when i show my parents they ask me if im depressed!! (which im not, btw, im just addicted to sad poetry...it usually has a nicer freestyle tone to it)

so, more to the point, i was wondering if anyone else here wrote poetry and had the same problem as me...lack of feedback

id b really embarrassed to just post some poems and ask for feedback if noone else was going to...so i wanted to start something like a coffee house type thing where people share wht they write and get feedback/constructive criticism (nothing mean, of course)

if u hate the idea and think im weird for posting this...feel free to tell me, i can take it :p

if u like the idea and think its cool, feel free to start posting ur own work...and the rest will follow

:coffee:

I used to write poems, and I've posted a few. I just don't have the time anymore. Sorry sweetie.

i fail at poetry. i cant rhyme to save my life.
but i adore haiku. that to me is no problem. :3
im more of a prose writer ;]

I have been a poet for some time now! I used to write short storied but I went through some really tough times when I was in 8th grade, and I had a lot of issues. And instead of the alternative (what I was doing), I found poetry. And writing helped me (along with 3 years of therapy). I'm now the head of the Poetry Club at my school (which is today at 3, you're all welcome to come) and I write and read every week. I also used to read during Open Mic Night and Poetry Night at the Muddy Cup before it got new owners.

i luv poetry but don't have a myspace and i don't want one

Same with me. I'm really good at haikus, tankas, and the ABCB style of quatrains. But I excel at creative writing. I'll post a link to one of my uber good ones.

I wrote this for my teacher who is going to Iraq:

There once was a teacher that was cool
He taught at ******* **** Middle School
He went to Iraq
So a bag he did pack
We will miss him because he rules

Poems don't have to rhyme.

I hate poetry.
Sorry.

Why?

i luv poetry but don't have a myspace and i don't want one

What does Myspace have to do with this? :confused3

Nice poem. I wish the best of luck to your teacher!

Pick me! I write poetry. But I'm not very good at it as you can tell from the siggy. I'll post some later.

I used to write poetry. but I guess it wouldnt count. (it was bad and what most people would classify as "emo")

All poetry is good. No poetry is bad, so dont let anyone tell you it is, especially since it comes from your heart. You dont have to share your poetry, a lot of people write poetry as self mediation or for their own mental health. Do you think Emily Dickinson ever thought her poetry would be read around the world today?

BTW: Your poetry doesnt have to rhyme.

i love poetry and reading it too.
i write sometimes but i mostly write if its for school.
in 8th grade i did a poem called a single rose[i think?] and my teacher said it was really good and it started from there my love for poetry.
