Any podcasters watching the World Cup?

When the equalizer happened, I told my daughter, "See, this is why I tell you girls to get down in front of the ball on one knee..." Then they showed a better angle, and he did what he was supposed to - he just muffed it completely.

Luke, what's the reaction in England right now?

I'll take the tie. (Says the man who wore a Liverpool jersey all day for the ocal youth World Cup day due to a lack of a US Soccer jersey...)

As for seeing a WC game, I went with my dad to a friendly at the old Foxboro Stadium between the U.S. and England - I think it was a pre-WC warmup in '94 if I remember correctly. The U.S. won pretty handily, and the England fans, ever the lyrical, of course had the appropriate song at the ready..."Will we ever win again..."

aggielawyer, I felt really bad for him as well, mainly because he's bound to be getting skewered. I enjoyed the game as well. Looking forward to Germany v. Australia tomorrow.

My brother (who played keeper from elementary school through high school) pointed out that he was holding his hands stiff like a wall rather than soft to scoop up the ball. I'm certainly not knowledgeable on the finer points, but it seemed to make sense at the time. Also, it seemed as if he was coming at the ball from a little bit of an angle, rather than having his body completely behind the ball. :confused3

Hey, I'm not complaining. I'd rather see us tie, or win, with a prettier goal, but it still counts if its ugly.

Yes, that's how he muffed it...he got his body mostly behind it, but put his hands out flat. I've seen keepers do this if they plan to push the ball out to play it on a run after (not sure why he would have done it in that situation)...but he didn't pay attention, and the ball hit off of one hand.

We were watching at our friends' house- our DDs are on the same travel team (our DD is attacking midfielder, and their DD is goalie). When the US scored, their DD said, "I could have stopped it better than that! He had his hands too stiff!" She was exactly right- he didn't grab the ball, it just bounced right up and around his hands.

you can watch the games at the company where i work..they have it running in every company building, in one of the big screen conference rooms..

I'm watching too, love football

This is going to sound confusing but ....I'm Scottish so I wouldn't like England to do well, to bring the pundits back down to earth they are already taking about when England win, but I would like the players to do well as I watch them every week with their club teams.

We supported USA yesterday, flags & bunting up in the sitting room and my son has a flag on his window. My hubby is in France at Le Mans with my English brother in law and his mates wearing an I love Susan t-shirt on with the USA of susan in the stars and stripes (thanks to a diser) I hope no one is offended, just a bit of fun. p.s we don't know a susan

After watching Algeria and Slovenia I don't think England or USA will have much difficulty in getting to the next round.

I find that sort of sad considering we are all supposed to be from the United Kingdom. I would never dream of not supporting Andy Murray because he is scottish I have always wanted him to win.

That's not the same, in Tennis the players are all Team GB. I don't want to get into a debate but that's my view.

I don't have any issues supporting the UK teams or individuals in any other sport, only footy because of all the pundits. But if England get through to the final you can be assured that i'll want them to do well

Love soccer, am having a great time watching the World Cup, so far some really great matches! Any one ready to call the winner yet? :cheer2:

At least Green didn't try to blame it on the ball, he took complete blame for it. Still wouldn't want to be him

Ohw yeah i do follow the WC very very very much. I try to see as much games as possible....

Emiel doesn't care for soccer at all and i don't care about the normal competition but when it's about a World Cup or European Cup then i watch it!!!!

Just a quick question, and not to highjack the thread. Anyone here ever get tickets to a World Cup game? We tried, and couldn't get one--so sad.
We went to 2 games when the European Cup was held in The Netherlands and Belgium.
We went to 2 games but that was because we wanted to be there, lived the event not because we love soccer that much....

And right now i'm going to watch the tv because they started the pre-soccer game view for The Netherlands-Denmark..........

To prove that: I only watched the last 20 minutes of the game against Denmark, while my colleagues watched the whole game.

We had a tv set up in our office, so we were able to see all of the game today.

Good win for Holland that, two Liverpool players scoring in that match too ;)

:goodvibes
