The only thing I got was an amaryllis....but it certainly is a beauty.

how about you?

I got a shepherds hook, flower shaped birdbath spike and a glass hummingbird feeder. I love feeding the birds so I'm very excited to use them.

I didn't get a plant, well, except for a half-dead poinsettia that DH brought home from the office. I put it out of it's misery pretty quick...a specialty of mine! ;)

I did receive a lovely iron garden stake with a butterfly on top, from my brother, also (from same sibling..what a sweetie!), a very cute, clay garden fairy. :) :)

I received a pair of hummingbird earrings. The special thing about them was that we went to Tulum just 3 weeks ago, and while at the ruins I saw a wonderful hummingbird flying around some hybiscus-type flowers, and I knew I wanted to buy some earrings as a rememberance. Well, I forgot about that, but what a surprised I had when I saw what my friend bought me.

I actually came to this board to report that I reluctantly threw out our pointsettia this morning. This after only 4 weeks! We were gone for 2 of the 4, and put the heat way down, and so with the off and on again heat, it just gave up it's ghost.

What nice presents you all received!

Bobbi, what and where, are the Tulum ruins?

What a nice friend, to surprise you with something so appropriate! :)

Your poinsettia lasted longer than mine..lol! :)

amid chaos, is your gift amaryllis blooming already? I have only just begun to bring mine upstairs from dormancy. None seem to be coming up on their own, maybe I did bring them in too soon.

Snowark, the Tulum ruins are in Mexico. Our first week of Christmas vacation was spent on a Carnival Cruise because I wanted to see these Mayan ruins and during spring break, when we go on a cruise, the weather is already in the 100's in the area. Well, we had perfect ruin viewing weather, it was probably in the high 70's F. The Mayans built this around 900 AD give or take, and there are buildings of stone and statues to see. The Mayans were astronomers, and there are some interesting placements of windows and interesting theories as to what happened to the civilization, including that they were taken up in spacecraft!

Keep warm everyone, the high today is 19 F!

I'm a little embarrassed, Bobbi. I had no idea you had gone on a cruise. Did you tell us, and I forgot, or missed it? :o

Sounds like a much more comfortable time to go, weather wise. I know I'd be ruined in 100F weather!

I've never been to Mexico. My brother has, and very much enjoyed visiting the ruins. Not sure though, if he went to Tulum.

I'm glad you had such a nice holiday, do you have pics (you could post) by any chance? :)

Perhaps "Spirit" will spot Mayan ruins....on Mars? ;)

There are probably a whole lot of people who think that Spirit just may do that, Snowark!

Not a gardening gift, but "new life" a brand new grandson was born in Boston on Dec. 19th. DH and I went to visit and hold the little one, and also to celebrate belatedly, his sister's first birthday, she was born on Christmas Eve '02. It could be that our DS and DDiL could be trying to have a Christmas baby!

As far as pictures go, that technology hasn't reach me yet, in fact, I really like to touch and hold pictures when I look at them, so I'm not rushing to do computer pictures, but I do have my share of grandbaby pictures in my computer.
