Not sure if this is in the right spot or not...

We are trying to figure out a way to save some money on food. Is there any place outside the parks but not in the vehicles that we can have a lite lunch and then just do snacks in the parks? We will be staying in a hotel that has a fridge so that won't be a problem. There are 5 of us and are needing to cut out some of the extras.

disney and sw use to have picnic tables at the entrance/exit of their parks - but they did away with this in early 2000 if not before - they were never used,

They don't even check your bags at legoland. You can take food in and sit at granny's apple fries Resturant to eat. That is near the front. It is a covered area outside with lots of tables and fans. There is also an area like that near the back of the park. I think is is near imagination zone or hero factory.

Thanks, Pepper! We may just do that. Could you tell if there was anyone bringing in food?

I didn't notice if anyone was bringing food in or not but now that I think about it again, there is a place somewhere in the middle next to the bbq sandwich stand and the waffles on a stick stand that is shaded with like 6 picnic tables. We sat there twice. We just kept having our water bottles refilled with ice too anywhere they had soda machines you can ask for ice. We took granola bars and crackers and stuff like that in but everything we ate there were huge portions. We got some Granny's Apple Fries. I forget the price but for the 3 of us one was enough and they were delicious....fried apples and whipped cream.

Granny's Apple Fries area is near the lego factory I think.

If you check the Einstein picture, to the right you can just barely see seats, I think that is the other section covered with fans where you can sit to eat. I was looking on the map, it is in Imagination Zone which is to the left not the back.

The bbq pit and Waffle spears are in Fun Land closer to coastersaurus. The is a shaded picnic aread not covered.

We just got home on the 10th so if you are looking for more info I might be able to remember more. Get to the build and test one of the first things if they are interested. We got there after only 2 rides and it was nice. Not crowed at all. We went back at 4pm to do the robot making thing and that building was so crowed there was a line out the door. We didn't have to do it since we already did, we just did the robot making thing which you have to sign up for. If you have teens they would probably like that. We were there before noon and signed up for the 4pm class and then came back to it. Maybe I will try to do a trip report of sorts.
Hope that helps. I have no sense of direction but can tell you there are places to sit in the park to eat and no one would care if you took anything in.

Can't think of any place outside gates of SW to picnic and not really allowed to bring in sandwiches etc. Its sort of hit and miss at bag check whether you can bring in more than small snacks for kids.

At ther gates there are trees with concrete around them that people use as place to sit while getting tickets etc. but not great for a picnic.

Inside the park not really a lot of benches either. Only ones I can remember off hand are up between the 2 gates at the front of the park. There are tables by the bakery and ice cream shop, but usually hard to find an empty one. Most people plop down on the concrete walls around the park when waiting for someone etc.

Hot sure how many kids you have but we always found it easy to share meals. For example if you get the 3 meal platter you get some ribs, some brisket, and either a leg quarter or a chicken breast, a roll, and some french fries for less than $14 or $15. Add a side or dessert and good to go for less than $20 for 2-3 people.

And we have gone from 9AM to 7pm without eating a meal just buying snacks or salads in the park. .
