Our family will be taking a regular DCL cruise (not a Member one) and was wondering if there are any perks or benefits we get to enjoy since we are DVC members. I was interested in things such as Castaway Club, concierge service, although we are in a level 4 Family stateroom w/verandah. Any info would be appreciated.

I know that the Castaway Club is for previous cruisers. So if you have never been on one you won't get the parks of the club until you cruise again. You are automaticlly in it (from what I have been reading) after your first cruise.

Other info I don't know much about but the Cruise Line Forum should help.

They have a DVC meeting where they give you a chance to win prizes. (On my cruise EVERYONE won a prize LOL!) They also gave you a few pins, hats etc. Nothing major but it was nice.

Carol,
Thanks for the reply. That sounds worth going to!

I tried to go to that during Mousefest, on the Dec 3-7 cruise last month. We didn't get there until the second half of the hour long event. By then they'd already done the drawing for prizes so we got DVC baseball hats just for showing up. If you're going to go at all, I guess I'd say go early.

We went on the Wonder in Nov. Although we did NOT do the DVC scheduled meet, we still were left 2 DVC member buoy magnets (they are big), Lanyards, Pins which is more than I expected. I don't even know how they knew I was DVC, we were there on cash.

We attended the member event, which was pleasant. We got luggage identifiers that fit over the handle of a suitcase, as well as hats, pins, and lanyards. The DVC beachtowels seemed to be the most coveted prize, and they "randomly" went to the very cute couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with their whole family.

We also had a large welcome home magnet on our cabin door when we arrived.

Nothing spectacular, but it added a bit of unexpected fun.

Have a great time!

OurMsBrooks and Karen,
Thanks for the additional info. These gifts sound great. I have owned DVC since 1999 and have only received one gift just this year. It is a painted picture on Canvas of Mickey and the gang at a DVC resort. Karen you probably got one too! You can't even buy much DVC stuff in the resorts either. It's just nice to have things like that as a Memento.

In case you didn't know there is a Disney Cruise Line forum too. You'll be spending much there I think.
