Any perks for renting DVC?

Renters are not considered guests. DVC considers a guest to have an uncompensated stay from a member. If you paid the member, you compensated them and are not a guest of the member.

Deb from a stay and perk standpoint they are not treated any differently. There are no situations that I can think of where there's a difference from a stay standpoint, only the wording difference that you note. Certainly that could change but I doubt it partly because DVC isn't going to be able to know which are which routinely nor do they have the time and energy to attempt to do so.

We used the laundry near the clown pool and no coins were needed, FWIW.

No, they are two different laundry rooms. One on the BWI side and one on the BWV side.

FWIW When we stayed on rented points we got the merchandise discount and many of the shops. But that was before Magic Bands and when our KTTWC had Kidani printed on it. Might be different now.

the laundry room is FREE - DVC members or not - why do you think they started to lock the doors to kept the regular hotel guests out.

they did NOT want you to put money in those machines - it messes them up - don't you remember the signs back when OKW (DVC) was the only one - please don't put money in these machines.
