Any past CPs from faraway places?

I'm hoping to do the DCP Fall 2013...but I live in New York so I'm a little concerned. I'd have to take a plane down to Florida which would mean I wouldn't be able to pack as much as people who drive.

So I'm wondering if there are any past CPs who were far away from California/Florida and how they dealt with things like this?

Most people don't drive, and really you don't need all that much stuff haha. I actually drove from Michigan and it was fine and I also didn't take that much. I had much more going back but you can have extra stuff shipped if you have to.

I lived in NJ. I was able to fit most of what I needed in the suitcases (and my parents just shipped down stuff later).

I am flying from Minnesota, I know how you feel. Though generally I would just buy things there or have it shipped. It'll be hard to tell what you'll need exactly until you get there. Pack clothes mostly though. Really you don't need a ton once you really get down to the basics.

Thanks so much guys! I guess I'm just overly nervous. I over think and I've watched one too many videos of CPs showing off their overstuffed cars.
Also, I was just thinking about how they can bring storage bins and such with them but I guess if I'm not bringing much the storage provided will be enough?

I think the problem of having too much will be on the way home, not when you get there. You don't know what your roomies will have until you're there. You can order risers too. I would evaluate each room once you arrive.

Don't worry about not having as much stuff as someone that loads down their car. You can easily get on the bus that goes to walmart and buy everything you need there, or meet people that have cars and go to Target or other places. You also really don't need a ton of stuff. A good chunk of your time will be spent at work, in your work costume. Flying actually helps limit you, so you bring your favorite clothes/shoes and don't pack a lot of junk you won't use while you're there. Also keep in mind your family can ship you things once you're there, or if you're flying in with a parent, ask that one of their checked bags be filled with your things.

If I get in I'll be traveling (flying) from Michigan. My plan is to fly southwest, they allow two checked bags for no cost, with my two parents, so I'll be able to have 4 suitcases plus a carry-on and "personal item" (purse/backpack). I also plan on picking some stuff (like hangers) up at walmart/target once I get there rather than wasting packing space.

A lot of people at Disney housing are International Cast Members. I was one myself!

Plenty of people have had to fly and the internationals will be able to empathise with homesickness - some internationals will not have even heard their native language been spoken for months.

I arrived my first night and all the buses to Walmart were cancelled - I had a delayed flight and then we arrived in a storm. So I had no bed sheets for the first night and no toiletries. Fortunately a roommate leant me some bed sheets and I used a sweater as a pillow!

Just worry about clothes and the bare necessities and the rest you can pick-up there.

Man I was from California and flew Southwest and had two bags and had no idea how I was going to fill them. I brought my desktop computer with me and still had room left over.
