I was just going through my classroom supplies, trying to get a little organized, when...I started getting a little excited for the school year to start! :sunny: I mean, I don't want it to start RIGHT NOW (still loving those lazy hazy crazy days of summer) but there's a little part of me that's already getting excited for the school year! :teacher:

Anyone else??

not yet!! But we've only been out 3 weeks. I get excited the begining of August usually!!!

Yes! That's why I've been perusing school supply lists and bought everything my son needs (but I look at other lists from other districts for my grade level and his). I also went to the teacher store and bought a couple of bulletin board sets, made my 1st week lesson plans and decided on my theme and setup for the year. My room was moved this year, and they waxed my room first (knowing how obsessed I am), so I've already got my furniture set up and started unpacking my boxes. I go in tomorrow to unpack the rest, and then my equally obsessed friend who teaches in the same school and grade level and I are meeting on Wed. at her house to plan the first six weeks' science/social studies activities for our team. :Pinkbounc

I love my vacation, and I love spending time with my kids, and I will wish I had longer when it really is time to start, but I get soooo excited getting ready!

Noooo, no yet! I've only been out 3 weeks. Maybe by August I'll start to get excited.

Definately not!!! I am a teacher in England and we still have just under 2 weeks to go until we break up for the summer!! Right now I am more excited about the prospect of no early morning for 5 1/2 weeks!

I am! Our school was rennovated this past year, so it will be like moving into a new building...I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it really will be done by August 15 like the builder promised and not one day before the kids come (which is probably more likely!)

I'm not excited yet. I still have one week of summer school to go so I haven't even started my vacation. I've been lucky this summer though we usually go for six weeks but the district cut middle school summer school down to four weeks. I'll actually get a whole month off instead of just two weeks. I have started planning though. My summer school room is the same room I'm in during the normal school year so it's been easy for me to get out my stuff and start planning.
I'll be really excited next summer since we'll finally be moving into our new building. Our old one was condemed six years ago the same week we were supposed to start school. They told us we would have a new building in three years. The building was done on time but they decided to stick the high school there while they rebuilt the high school. We got shuffled around the district for one year and then the eighth grade was stuck in this horrid trailer. It's dark and cramped and falling apart. The high school looks like it will be done on time and we've been promised that we'll finally be in the new building a year from now. I really hope it works out that way but knowing this district they'll probably find some other use for the building and keep us in the trailor.

Not a teacher but a Mom who misses her kids when they are in school and I just love Teachers!! I hope my kids future teachers are excited for school to start too!! Thank you Teachers! You have one of the most important jobs in the world! :cheer2:

I was so sad today when I walked into Target and saw them putting together all the school supplies.

Now I have to say I did walk around looking at them, touching a few things, wondering if this pen would work or if that stapler was any better than what I have already.........

I always look forward to the new year of school after being out about a month. It's been that long and I'm starting to get excited. I still have a few projects I must do before school starts, but yes. . . it is a thrill! Even my kids look forward to the new year, especially this year. We're hoping for a normal school year - no hurricanes!

We only got out on June 20th, so there is no real excitement! This is the first summer in 12 yrs that I have not taught summer school, and to tell you the truth, I am thoroughly enjoying doing nothing!!! ;) Our grandson is here for a few weeks, we both get to enjoy him, and life is pretty good right now.
After teaching for 29 yrs, teaching is not what it used to be - many more challenges, kids tend to be more disrespectful, I find that with some classes (6th gr) I spend more time disciplining than teaching some days, and this makes me sad!! I have always loved my job, but when I read your topic heading, I just didn't experience the little thrill I would normally have.
Hey, give me a few more weeks off and I'll be the one up there getting that classroom ready for another great year.

I'm excited to go back---I'm teaching a brand new class, and I get to create the curriculum.

I'd ask DH, but he isn't home from school yet!! :rotfl2: ES around here are year-round, but MS and HS are 9 month.

We both need to get prepared for next year by 7/24---we're going to Florida for a month! We get back 3 days before we have to report!
