Any other Frances people to check in

For anyone for future use, except for the slider we used those hurrican clips to place the plywood over the windows. Those have been GREAT!
They were $30 for each bag of 20 clips. But they are so great. The winds TRIED to pull the plywood away. Instead the clips dug in deeper. And no holes had to be drilled.
OOops just heard a boom.
Fence still up. As far as I can see.

Sunday morning @ 11:00am
Here in North Florida we are under five different storm advisories:
Hurricane Watch
Tropical Storm Warning
Tornadoe Warning
Tornadoe Watch
Flood Warning

We are just now starting to recieve some of the high winds, expected to gust over 50mph. This morning we have already had several reports of tornadoes touching down. (I hate tornadoes) Many people have lost power, my parents home included, but they are staying with one of my sisters very close to where I live. (Over 4 million people are without power State wide)

Even with the forecast saying the weather will only deteriorate over the next 24 hours, we still feel blessed it could have been much worse. The State of Florida is really taking a beating...and the financial impact is going to be astronomical.

Good news the storm is now going to stay futher south of Orlando then first thought.

Our front door faces south and is inset and offers some protection.
Just around 10 minutes ago we happened to see what looked like large chunks of the KMart shopping center roof blow away. (Winter Garden, highway 50) The AC units are still on top of the roof.

Well -- it may have been chunks pf a Big Lot roof. Not sure which building. Either way I think that shopping center will need major repairs!

Still waiting for Frances to pass through here, but that doesn't look like that's not gonna happen til midnight at least!

It's just rainy and windy here, just a little debry, no damages around here. Couple neighborhoods are without power.

My mom and sisters plane back is rescheduled for Tuesday night, since all airports around here are closed til tomorrow (Monday).

Hope everyone else is safe here in Florida!!

Tink

Just a note to say that we continue to pray for all of you folks in the state of Florida. I have never seen such a slow moving storm in my life (mind you I am from the NE), I hope that the storm passes and you all continue to stay safe.

We are still having some gusts and rain at times. Lots of traffic lights are down and of course people don't know what a 4 way stop is when that happens.

I just got home from spending the last 3 days at my job. I work in a hospital and have to go in for the during and they just let us leave around 9 am once the after crew was able to make it in.
Glad to hear alot of people have faired well during this nightmare we have had to go through.

Lots of prayers and PD going out to everyone in the state of FL.

I looked outside this morning about 5 am and we had the Sunday paper in the yard in the middle of the hurricane! It was nice - they even double-bagged it so it was bone dry!!!

Prayers and good thoughts to everyone... Anyone know anything about Merritt Island? My best friend lives there, although she evacuated last week. Anyone know about damage at MI?

We're so happy to still have power, but not expecting our luck to last throughout the day.

So far it's just some gusty wind and spitting rain. Not as bad as a typical summer thunderstorm.

But there's a large band of severe weather on it's way.

Stay safe, everyone!

Still windy and rainy here but nothing huge. Lost electricity a few times but it came back quickly. Don't really think it was completely due to the strom. If FPL had responded to our complaints on Monday we would have been fine but they did not and the loose wire on the transformer would loose contact at times.
Some tree damage and I've lost most of my avocados. Nothing else.

CJK..we probably won't hear about damage on the island til later since they are not letting the newscrews out to them. Until the storm has blown over even more, no one is getting out there. Sorry I don't have better news for you.

Still here. Supposedly the storm is taking a more westerly track and heading directly for Tampa. It's also not slowing down as much as they predicted.

Oh, well, we shall see.

National Guard had to be called in to one of the community shelters in Lake Wales (Polk County) this morning. Seems tempers were flaring and they were needed to keep the peace. :earseek:

Here in south Georgia they have issued tornado watches and hurricane warnings are up for the gulf coast. We are about 30 miles from Tallahassee, so pretty much what hits them, gets us. My prayers are with everyone in the path of Frances.

I am in the North Miami Beach area. We didn't get it too bad. Power went out for a few hours yesterday and then some flickering but mostly rainy and windy. I hope everyone is ok.

We've lost a few shingles on the roof but didn't see any other damage. We are waiting for it to die down before going out again. Even with a raincoat with hood and jacket on top, my husband and I were soaked. It was really hard to look up towards the roof because the rain and wind were blinding.

She's here!:( In the panhandle. DH is in Baghdad, I am TOO stressed!!! At least we have called and e-mailed each other today.
Bad wind, rain, branches down. A tree has fallen down the street. Lights flickering...

nORTH fLORIDA -

40 knot winds gusting to about 60. Lots of rain. Lots of trees & lines down.

Right now there is about a 1' diametr tree laying up against the line running to my house and it's sparking & flaming. When it goes, the lines will go with it.

& my 600' long driveway is now blocked with downed trees.

funfunfun
