Any other former APs having a hard time with ticket prices?

Disney is a special occasion for those of us who didn’t have an AP. Parkhoppers plus airfare plus airport transfers plus food for a week. ....

A hotel on harbor will save you plenty. We still manage to go 5-10 days a year by staying off-site. If you can go sleep at home you are still way better off than anybody from out of state. Try not to fret.

Count me in. As locals who would drop by for a few hours spontaneously or on the occasional planned weekday off, the current ticket options are a pricey no-go for us. Knott's has been a pleasant, laid back option in the interim and we are grateful to have it. Looking forward to the return of AP's, hopefully soon!

Disneyland is still a special occasion for many who had APs. Many still had to purchase airfare, and even for those of us who didn't, there were other budget considerations. (Disney will manage to get you, AP or ticket holder! No one gets off unscathed!) We had to save our gift cards for meals at NR (no AP discount there) and other TS restaurants on site. And we saved our loyalty points and budgeted for off site hotel stays -- a real treat when we could afford it! On site stays? A huge luxury! We have a budget set aside for tickets, but are still waiting to hear more about the new program.

We have been twice since re-opening. We bought a 2 day ticket and then went twice about 10 days apart. We are going again next month. We always go for the park's anniversary and I booked VGC at the 11 month mark (and then added 2 more days after the 7 month mark via waitlist). We will have 4 nights at VGC and bought 4 day tickets (thanks to Mom for buying them). We are excited, but this visit is going to have to hold us for awhile. We are going to WDW in September for their anniversary (on 10/1) for almost 2 weeks and I was able to get us APs for that visit, so that helps there. Should get a good fill of fun on that trip. I have VGC booked for November for 2 nights and that will most likely be my Christmas season visit for DL unless AP/memberships are available by then. And then nothing else upcoming until March when I will go to WDW again.

Haven’t been since reopening. Hard to stomach 450 for a family of three while my wife is pregnant and can’t do much. Much easier to justify with an AP

Same. Knotts has been and acceptable itch scratcher.

I get both sides. I know it is hard for those used to being able to "pop" in, and I do hope we can get back to where there are something like an AP. But I also understand how APs can overwhelm the current capacity issues, and I suspect reservations are here to stay. I am thinking we may not see an AP like we had before, but more of one like "You get X number of days.... and you have to make a reservation for them."

Ticket prices and the uncertainty of actually getting on webslingers with the virtual queue. Technically, the virtual queue uncertainty is related because I wouldn't pay for park hopping which means for a two day trip, I only get one shot at the virtual queue if I want to visit both parks instead of two with an annual pass.

For this and other reasons, what would have been a Disneyland trip for the anniversary turned into a Vegas trip. Last year, I ate every single Lunar New Year food item and was on track to eat every single Food & Wine item if the park didn't close. Now that I've gotten used to not going to the parks and am not pleased with decisions that Disney has been making, I doubt I'll ever spend that much at Disney again. I may go in October and February but that's mainly because I have friends + family who want to go.
