I just joined weight watchers and want to lose 20 lbs before my trip in 8 weeks. However, I don't want to gain a bunch of weight back while enjoying the DDP. I can't count on walking it off as I'll be in a wheel chair but I can go swimming daily to get some exercise.
Here's my plan. Make sensible choices. Eat a salad for an appetizer. Eat fish, chicken, maybe steak for main course but avoid the carbs and save the carbs for dessert and just try not to eat the whole thing (I'm sure the kids will help with that).

I had to laugh at how food obsessed you are. I am too. I have saved so many food pictures to my computer and spend hours figuring out where we are going to eat and what we are going to eat. For some odd reason it is not making me want to eat more though. Congratulations on your weight loss! You will get the rest off in due time. It is a journey not just a destination.
