I hopped over the border yesterday with 2 friends to take advantage of the Black Friday sales. We headed out to Ogdensburg, NY first, where we spent a couple of hours at Wal-Mart and then went Massena (about 35 miles away). Massena should have been our first choice, because it had Wal-mart, and a mall with Sears, JCPenny's, T.J. Maxx, etc but since we hadn't been to either place before, we hit the closest location first. JCPenny had awesome deals on jewellery, so I stocked up. (Some for me for Christmas this year, my hubby thanks me for doing his shopping) and gifts for my mother, and mother-in-law for both Christmas and birthdays. Each piece was regularly $60., marked down to $19.99!

I got some Skechers for my daughter at Sears for 1/2 price, and some Land's End pants for my husband for $9.99. I also bought a table top Spiderman2 pinball machine for my son for $29.99 at Radio Shack; at RS here it is $49.00 so even with the exchange and customs, I still saved about $15.00.

Any other great deals out there?

MY friend and I thought about a trip to shop but I we would have been really unprepared. I had no idea just how big this sale was and what time the stores opened, so maybe next year we will go know that we know what to expect.

Sounds like you got some great deals.

Had the whole thing planned for weeks, staying overnight at the Sheraton beside Walden Galleria...up at 6...hit Target first, then Walden then on to the outlet mall..but then I got the FLU! I thought if I really medicated myself I could make it...but alas..was not to be.

Oh well, next year...I am going down this coming Wednesday and maybe they'll be some decent sales anyways.

You'll still find great deals this week. We stayed overnight last weekend. I bought lots of Xmas gifts for the kiddies and with the current exchange rate there are lots of deals to be found. Went to Walmart here this week and found it hard to spend money here after seeing the major savings down there. We stayed 1 night, claimed $450.00 and they sent us through with no duty, gst or pst. We were entitled to $200.00 I believe.
Have fun!

Hi all, we just got back at 5pm. We crossed over Saturday morning. We spent the night on the Canadian side to see the fireworks and the lights on the falls on Friday night. We ate at The Keg and saw the fireworks from the 9th Floor of Embassy Suites. What a fantastic show!
So on to the US on Saturday, and we spent about 40 minutes in US immigration due to us taking our cousins over(from the UK). We had no hassle they just had to get a Visitors Waiver Program document.
We stayed by the Boulevard Mall and did all the Stores around it. We got mens Levis for $26.99US. We did pick up more deals as well.
We had no problem coming back either, but boy was the line up getting back across the Lewiston/Queenston bridge long into the US.

and I could be wrong...
That you have to be out of Canada for more than 48 hrs to claim the allowance of $200 Tinkerjane...you did well and struck it lucky with your CC agent!

It really is hit and miss with them!
