My dh would like to eat here on our next trip. Is it good? We have three children all under 8.

We have eaten there twice but it has been about five years. Our children were 7 & 8 when we were there. The food is not great but we had a lot of fun.

I have heard others suggest that you should go there and order desert only. This sounds like a great idea.

We are in the minority on these boards, but we really like it! We thought the food was fine, true not gourmet, but we have simple tastes. You would never see us eating at Victoria and Alberts or anything. Our four year old (at the time) loved it, and he got his meal in a glow in the dark frisbee which he still plays with 2 years later! We really like it, but a lot of people think the food is really bad. To each his own I guess! The enviornment is neat, and if you want to give it a try then the dessert idea is a good one!

This is a family favorite. We have always had good service and good food. With cooked to order burgers & great fries and onion rings and a great big milkshake we have always been pleased. The rueben sandwich is great too. Our 3 & 5 yr old love sitting in the cars and we all enjoy watching the old black and white sci-fi flicks

We thought it was great. I had a burger and onion rings which were similar to Fuddruckers or any major burgur chain. My wife had a fancier dish which was good but not great. Milkshakes were great. The atmosphere was fun - better than 50s PT IMO. I liked the 50s Prime Time food a bit more, but Sci Fi is cheaper so I think it works out. I'd certainly recommend it for a good lunch.

We have lunch there everytime we go to Disney. Last time we went we had the whole family. It's a fun restaurant. The old timers appreciate the movies they show on the big screen. (mother and father in law) Don't expect a gourmet meal though. The place is nothing really more than a good burger and fries joint. But then again that's just my opinion.

It's the one place my kids insist on eating at every trip. The atmosphere is super and the food is fine. We've never had a bad meal, the kid's clean their plates.

I know many will disagree with me, but it was hands down the best cheeseburger, onion rings and milkshake I have ever had. We let the kids sit "up-front" and I think it was the quietest meal we had all vacation--they were so distracted by the atmosphere. I will do this again!

The last time I was at DW was the only time I have not eaten there. The food is okay but the atmosphere was great. We have even had our son fall asleep watching the movies. The kids love the place.

:p Great atmosphere BUT absolutely the worst food in all of WDW.:p :p :p

My family ate at sci-fi the 3rd week of August. We had eated there 4 different times before so it was one of our favorites mainly because of the atmoshphere. However this time we were very disapointed that the menu has changed. All of the entres are very exspensive and a limited menu. My husband even told the waiter he didn't see anything on the menu he wanted so the server said they could make him up a cheeseburger to the tune of $13.99! They also took the grilled cheese off the children's menu which was my son's favorite. Go for a snack maybe or a shake, but we will not be returning for a meal.

We thought the food was fine but had the basic burgers and ham sandwich. The best part is that it was cool and unbelievable quiet. Moreso then other fancier sitdowns ie AP or FFC. All the kids were watching the movies instead of screaming etc....My 4 and 7yo had a great time!

me and my husband split the cheeseburger meal and i ordered the onion rings. They bring out this huge platter of oinion rings for an appetizer, then they brought out 2 plates-each with half a burger and order of fries. I had the chocolate milk shake. my husband says he doesnt care where we eat for our trip next october as long as he gets to go back for more of those onion rings. the burger and fries and milkshakes were great also

Our family visited WDW for 10 days in July and we ate lunch there twice. Our son is seven and he LOVES the place. They have ice cubes that light up which you buy and they put them in the children's drinks ( they are red, blue, green etc) kids loves this. We ate dinner there about two years ago on our annual trip and it was ok, but I like the lunch better. I had a cheeseburger each time and it was huge I was very full. I did get the cheesecake one of the days we had lunch there and my cousin and I shared it. The cheesecake was very good, so was my cheeseburger. I know we will eat there again next year on our annual trip to WDW. We are going during Christmas this year also and we may do lunch there if time allows. We are only there for 5 days during Dec. and we have a breakfast and a dinner booked for the day we will be at MGM so I am not sure if we will eat a big lunch that day, but if we do it will be at Sci Fi Diner. I think your kids will like the place alot.

We ate there twice during our last trip because we had such a great time. We ARE gourmets, and we LOVED our food! Maybe it's because the menu changed, but we had no complaints whatsoever and we are very picky people. We ate the walnut/spinach/blue cheese salads and they were fabulous. My son and I had BBQ chicken and it was very good. My husband had the chili, which was not very spicy, by the way, and he liked it very much. We also ate the pasta salad, which had capers on it -- I never expected to find capers on anything served at the Sci Fi, but it was a welcome surprise!

I have not been but a friend at work just got back and HIGHLY recommended it. However, she did say they have eaten there about 8 times and to stay with the basics like a hamburger/cheeseburger. She said they fancier stuff isnt very good but the burgers fries onion rings and shakes are good. SHe also said atmosphere is great. We will be going in October and I am looking forward to it.

So can anyone confirm that the menu has changed? It looks the same on Deb's site as when we were there, but I did read in a post awhile back that the dinner menu was now different. Does anyone know for sure? I changed our PS for dinner there to a late lunch at 3:00 just in case, but I would really like to know tis for the future. Can anyone tell us what is on the dinner menu if it is different? Is the lunch menu the same?

Here is the link to the menu listed on Deb's site:

I'm glad others are talking it up because this place always seems to get a bad rep.

I've never had a bad meal here. Frequently they have specials, and that's what I tend to get. The last time it was blackened red-snapper sandwich. YUM! They frequently do special orders for my mom - she's gotten the Penne with chicken instead of shrimp. Ordered the Tuna as a sandwich, not an entre. And we've both had the burgers, fries and milkshakes, and they've all been really good and really tasty.

And the atmosphere is a *really* nice change. I can't emphasize enough how good it is to go to a place that is so quiet! Quiet because everyone is watching the movie clips! The staff is fun too.

Anyhow - I highly recommend it. (As for the Prime Time - Never liked it personally - it's loud, and I find the cast antics more annoying than endearing. And the menu is like bad diner food.)

I can confirm that the dinner menu is NOT what's listed on Deb's site. We ate there fairly late (8 p.m.) on a Saturday evening in July and the food was not very good. Worst by far was my teen's cheeseburger, which he ordered by request even though it was not on the menu. He is 14 and eats like a growing boy/athlete and he only ate half it. He said the burger itself was just too hard to eat -- it was way overcooked. We were disappointed in the meal and have this restaurant on our very short list of "no return any time soon" places.
