This hotel is recommended by this site, it is close to Universal and Sea World (where we will be spending 80% of our time this trip), it has free transportation to those parks and provides transportation for a fee to Disney, and it has an on-site Enterprise desk. It seems to meet all my requirements.

But I would really like opinions from people who have stayed here. Was it clean? Did you have any staff problems or people problems in general? Did you eat in the restaurant? What did you think of the hotel transportation??

Any input would be VERY appreciated!! Thanks!!

We stayed there for one night in June before going to ASMo. It was ok, but I'm glad we didn't pay anymore than $49 for it. The sheets on the bed and the bathroom were both clean. The bathroom looked like it had seen better days though. The walls could have used a good scrubbing or repainting. The carpet had that funny, almost sticky feel to it so I made sure I kept my feet covered when walking on it. The hotel had supposedly been refurbished, but they must have skipped our room. The outside and lobby looked like they had been redone and were nice. We ate breakfast at the hotel and it was edible, but nothing special. We had our car so didn't use the shuttle, but Universal is very, very close. We've seen worse, but were not really impressed by it and wouldn't stay there again. Sorry, but, hopefully, someone else has had a better experience to share with you.

I want to hear all opinions! Not just the good ones!

Thanks for your response though :D

How long ago did you stay there?

We were there for one night the first week of June, 2000. Before we stayed there, I also posted a question about what it was like. Sorry to say, I didn't get any responses. You might want to try the Universal Board. It seems like I did see something about it there once. Good luck. :)

we stayed there in december for 49.00. i thought it was worth that. very convenient for usf. we didn't eat at the restaurant, but we ordered from the deli--it was horrible and very expensive. it is not as "pristine" as some places, but it certainly didn't feel like a "roach motel". our car broke down when we were there. we tried to use the car rental, but it wasn't open when we needed it. not having a car one evening meant we were stuck at the hotel unless we called a cab--because there is nothing within walking distance. i think it is worth the 49.00 nothing more, nothing less. good luc

we didn't stay at that clarion, but stayed at one in buena vista... where we were unimpressed by:
1. dirty underwear left under the bathroom vanity
2. garbage left in the garbage disposal
3. management that wanted us to move half way thru our stay and lied to get us to do it
4. management that was unresponsive to: electrical wires that were exposed in chandelier, general filth of the unit etc
Needless to say, we will never stay in one of their hotels/timeshares/etc. ever again. Even when we contacted corporate, they said they'd do something for us..needless to say, we never heard from them again. My advice: AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
If it had been just one thing, we cd have lived w/it, but the combination, and then the attitude of management finally convinced us NOT TO STAY THERE EVER AGAIN!

I've heard numerous negative reports about the LBV Clarion. THe Clarion Universal is supposedly much better. I've never stayed however all the reports I have read say it is clean, basic, and worth $49-$69, nothing more.

We have never stayed at this property, but last year we stayed at Clarion Suites Resort World in Kissimmee (had no choice because booked through vacation club). We had a terrible stay due to rude management, disorganization, run-down property, no restaurant, road construction, limited hotel activities and broken security lighting which made for extremely dark walks to our room. We had never stayed at a Choice Hotel property (Comfort, Clarion, Sleep, etc...) before because we have never heard good things about these properties. After 6 months of fighting with their head office, they sent me gift certificates for half the amount of our stay which will expire in the next year. I wouldn't pay too much for this property if I were you, because it seems as if this is a budget hotel chain (although our room price wasn't very cheap!)and they are extremely difficult to deal with in regards to customer service. I did hear that this propery just received a refurbishment, but the property we stayed at said the same thing and even showed other properties on the website and so once we got there, it was another story! My advice is: be careful about staying at any properties owned by Choice Hotels.
