In the past when we have stayed on-site, we have always driven to the parks. Are we the only ones who do this? I find that with small children, strollers... that it gives us the flexibility to get back to the resort with less of a hassle.

I agree. When we have a car, the only park we take the bus is to MK. The other parks you can get in by a very short walk (Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Downtown) or taking a short tram (MGM).

The real perks are being able to travel offsite, not having to stand, carry strollers and packages.

We have always had a rental car and driven to the parks. The only exception has been when we stay at the Boardwalk - we typically walk to EPCOT and Disney-MGM Studios. As Hawk said, it's also helpful for off-site activities (DW has to hit Character Warehouse at least once or twice while we're there).

We also rent a car and drive to the parks. I have had my knee replaced and find it diffucult to ride those buses, especially if I have to stand. Also I can use handicap parking and that is usually closer to the entrance than the bus stops...

We drove down to Florida, and yes, we drove to the parks.
There are five of us and when I saw the lines for the bus, I thought, no way. We got to the parks quickly and no, we were not let out up front, but we had a decent parking place.

It is just easier for us. Not too mention there have been too many people complaining about the bus service. I just figured we would skip it.

We did take the boat to DTD from POR. Now that was fun, a little cold in Dec., but fun!

P.S. Been there, done that, going back!!!!

lisajl, thanks for finishing my sentence, even though I was thinking it. We love zipping from one park to another. We have used the buses for early morning, but I can still make better time with the resort monorail, plus you get a great parking spot at TTC early in the morning. I commute by public transporation 5 hours a day (commuter train and subway) and using public transportation while on vacation is not something I want to do. Glad it is available for those who love it, just not a perk we use.

but he does most of the driving on vacation and at home. I don't mind the bus so much when you can get a seat, but I hate standing. We will be bringing DD for her first trip, and I dread the thought of having to drag her, the stroller, diaper bag, etc, on and off the buses. How do you stand on the bus, hold on to the handrail, and safely carry a one year old? If it were up to me, we would drive everywhere, go to the outlets at least three times, and eat offsite after the park closes almost every day!

Always drive, to every park, every time. I like having my freedom to come and go as I please. We may decide upon leaving the park that we want to go to DTD and then to dinner before heading back to the room. If we were on a bus we would have to go back to OKW first and then get in the car and go from there. We may try the MK busses on this upcoming trip as I have been hearing how convenient they are, but not for the other parks.

Even if it means parking farther away, I think it's easier to drive when you have small children. My kids always find it more soothing to be "in motion" in a stroller, rather than waiting a long time in a bus line.

We used to drive to EVERY park, EVERY time. I detest waiting for buses. We always vowed to use the buses, but it seemed our first wait for a bus was always over 15 minutes and we'd change our plan to strictly driving. On our last trip, however, staying at the AKL, the bus service was fantastic, and we used the buses exclusively.

I've read other posts saying you should take the bus to MK but don't recall ever seeing a reason. Could you tell me WHY MK is any different as far as bus vs. car? Thanks.

When we stay at OKW, we take the rental car almost everywhere. The exception is MK on a crowded night (Saturday). It's more of a hassle to leave MK with the crowds, take the monorail to the TTC, get the tram and finally get the car. It's easier to just exit MK and catch the bus right there. If we go during the day we usually drive since people aren't all leaving at the same time. When we stay at BWV, we take the boat or walk to Epcot & MGM, car everywhere else.

We stay on property and always rent a car so we can drive everywhere. We are just too impatient to wait for busses, even though I have heard some good things about bus transportation we like to go when we are ready and saving even 10 minutes is worth it to us. The only time we have not done this is last year. We arrived at the Magic Kingdom early and were in the first row of the parking lot. We were only there for breakfast at Crystal Palace and would be back at the MK that night so we just hopped a bus to MGM so we could keep the "good" parking spot. Other than that we just like to drive ourselves everywhere, especially DTD, I but A LOT:D and I don't want to have to ride the bus with all of those bags and I am sure the other passengers wouldn't like it either!
