It's my understanding that with chicken pox, you are only not infectious when the spots have started to scab over - at least that's what schools and nurseries advise before children are allowed back.
A couple of years ago when my daughter was 2, she had what I thought were 2 mosquito bites on her back that I noticed the day we were flying home. It wasn't until we woke up on the plane as were landing that I noticed she was covered in spots - it was by then obviously chicken pox that basically developed during the course of the 8 hour flight.
Most unfortunate, I'm truly sorry if we affected anyone else, but the thing with chicken pox is that you don't know until those dreaded spots appear.
I really hope that no news is good news as far as this thread goes, and suzycute's family have gone on holiday as planned.
