Any off-site (outside of WDW) dining suggestions?

There are a couple we have enjoyed.
PF Changs - Millenium Mall
Outback Steakhouse - Buena Vista Palace Wyndham (DTD)***not to be confused with the outback chain - not the same.
Bennihana's (Hilton - DTD)

Samantha Brown also did a weekend show about hidden Orlando treasures - this one sounded yummy.

Johnson's Diner - Orlando

If you like Japanese/Sushi when we were there 3 weeks ago we got in late and decide to eat at Kobe steakhouse in LBV on Palm Parkway. It is habachi style where there cook in front of you It is very good its just maybe 5 or 10 mins if that from Disney property. Its a good choice to go to

Cafe Tu Tu Tango
Bahama Breeze
Bill Wong's - Chinese buffet, not sure if this still exists, it's been a few yrs.

For Sushi - Rangetsu

http://www.rangetsu.com/

They have 2 locations: 1 in FL & 1 in Japan. Great sake selection. Good food. We go every time we are in FL. My husband doesn't like Japanese food & he even likes to eat there. Quite an assortment of food. On Saturday nights they play drums out by the fish - great entertainment.

Moonfish is excellent, if you want something nice but not the typical chains you find at home.

We just tried Texas de Brazil last week and used a coupon for a free dinner when purchase the 2nd one. The meat was good, however, there is only so much meat you could eat. It was loud, great service. My kids loved the fried bananas and the Brazilian cheese bread. They were filled up by those!!

Thanks for this! I will bookmark it for our fall trip.

192 (Irlo Bronson) Between mile marker 10 and 11...you have a good Pizza Hut, Olive Garden and Bob Evans. Parents are especially fond of Cracker Barrell. Depends on your tastes.

Charley's Steakhouse by the Celebration area is one of the best steakhouses around (somewhat pricey) buy a great meal. At least it was the last time we were there.

We didn't like Charleys at all. It seemed way overpriced and was definitely not what I would call Top 10. We were there last February and I just didn't think the price was worth what you got.

If you like Chinese food, there is a place called Fortune Court. It's on Palm Pkwy (right accross the 535 from where the Alehouse is. It's really good but doesn't open until 3:30pm. Our faves are the chicken corn soup (like egg drop soup with chicken and corn) and the honey chicken adn general tsos chicken.

Another good place, and not fancy for a steakhouse at all, is Black Angus. It's right on the 535 as soon as you exit from the DTD exit (on your right hand side)

Giordano's is excellent, great deep dish Chicago pizza. That entire Formosa Gardens center has many many restaurants. On 192 - turn right after exiting WDW property.

:) For something different try Emerills Tchoup Tchop in Royal Pacific Resort. Park at Universal, again I think its free after 6, enjoy a stroll around CitiWalk taking in the fun atmosphere and then hop on a water taxi to RPR, they are a good way to view the resort. Food different restaurant decor very cool although quite expensive. A nice treat. Have Fun

Celebration isn't far at all-15 minutes maybe? It's a nice town (used to be a Disney town, at first) and has none of the strip mall atmosphere of many other off-site spots. You can spend an hour or so looking in some shops, walking near the lake, etc.

If you were planning a day at Universal Id say Mythos ,its a great place to eat with good food and atmosphere.
It has been voted the best restaurant in a theme park for (ithink)the last 6 years.:thumbsup2

We did not care for Charley's. The steak was just ok (didn't care for the seasoning, however), certainly not worth the price, and we were very put off by the 'service.'

My husband and I went for an early dinner one evening (ca. 6 pm), prior to planning to go to the cinema at Celebration. We declined pre-dinner cocktails and proceeded to order our steaks. Everything is a la carte, but a salad is included with the steaks. So we decided that steak and salad would be perfect for our appetite that evening. The steaks were very large and we often eat just steak & salad at home. We find portions in U.S. restaurants over the top, so we never order appetizers or dessert, and just didn't need potatoes or extra vegetables over and above the salad. We are often uncomfortably stuffed just with an entree at most restaurants.

Well, the waiter seemed very put out by this. He kept trying to upsell us to get some appetizers or sides, and he was very annoyed that we weren't ordering wine with dinner. We ordered exactly what we wanted to eat for our evening meal. We weren't trying to be deliberately cheap or keep our meal cost down, it was exactly what we wanted. We are big steak fans so wanted to be able to enjoy and finish our steaks without being stuffed by appetizers or potatoes or other extras.

During the meal we were speaking Danish to one another (my husband is Danish and I'm American). About halfway through the meal, the waiter finally ended his snippy attitude and was, in fact, pleasant to us. If we get good service, we always give a good tip, and had planned to tip ca. 20% (despite the initial irritations), especially since we knew he wasn't getting the big tab that he hoped for, even though we shouldn't feel guilty for ordering exactly what we want in a restaurant. It's not like we only ordered salad and didn't even order an entree, and the restaurant was not even half full, so it's not like we took a table away from some bigger spenders. Our tab still came to ca. $80 for dinner for two.

Well, when he came back to the table after running our credit card, he handed it to us and said, "for your convenience, I've added in the 18% gratuity." I was stunned, and so furious! Stupidly, we said nothing, signed the receipt and vowed never to return (we also didn't care for the flavoring they put on the steak, and found it overpriced for the quality, so wouldn't have returned anyway).

I think he thought that since we were "European" that we didn't understand American tipping habits, and since we had ordered what he thought to be a frugal meal, he might have thought we were cheap and might stiff him.

I so wish that I had asked to see a manager and complained. I actually think the waiter had changed his attitude halfway through the meal because he had decided that this was the way he was going to deal with us.

I think Longhorns or Outback serves as good a steak for a more reasonable price. Charley's has a price point like Ruths Chris, Mortons, Shulas, Yachtsman and others, but doesn't deliver the quality.

We are basically looking for good food - prefer casual but any suggestions are welcome. Fun atmosphere would be a plus!

Good food, casual - TooJays on Sandlake in Dr. Phillips. Excellent, high-quality, fresh food, reasonably priced. Menu is on their website toojays.com. It's in the shopping area just across the street from the Barnes & Noble bookstore, quite a quick trip north on Vineland from WDW.

Casual and fun atmosphere - Cafe Tu Tu Tango on International Drive.

We like to hit the Macaroni Grill on 535 for lunch occasionally...also second the Emeril's restaurants at Universal along with Margaritaville and Mythos.
