Chef Mickey's - Dinner
Cinderella Royal Table - Lunch
Tusker House - Breakfast
Kona Cafe - Dinner
Hollywood & Vine - Breakfast
Crystal Palace - Dinner
Tony's Town Square - Lunch
Shutters at Old Port Royal - Dinner

The last 2 times we ate Chef Mickey's for dinner, the food was ok, nothing great. It's more about the characters and the experience than the food.

Same thing with Crystal Palace dinner. While the CP breakfast is one of our favorite meals, dinner was not very good. If you're going to eat at CP, definitely eat at breakfast. Lunch is pretty good too.

We thought the Tusker House breakfast was great. The food was nice and fresh and it was fun seeing the characters in their safari outfits.

I think Tony's Town Square has the same menu at lunch as they do at dinner. We really liked the food. The chicken parm was really good, and we liked the decor of the restaurant.

I can't speak for the other restaurants as we haven't eaten there.

Welcome to the DIS! I would suggest that you read some dining reviews from this site or allearsnet.com. I can tell you that you will be disappointed with much of what you read about your particular choices. We don't know if you are traveling alone or with family and the ages of any children. That information would be really helpful!

My personal opinions are as follows:
Chef Mickey's - Dinner-NO WAY
Cinderella Royal Table - Lunch- Probably
Tusker House - Breakfast_ YES!
Kona Cafe - Dinner Yes
Hollywood & Vine - Breakfast No chance
Crystal Palace - Dinner No
Tony's Town Square - Lunch Not my first choice by a long shot
Shutters at Old Port Royal - Um, no!

I have dined at all these locations at least once (I am sorry to say in several instances)!

When you tell us about your travel party you will receive many suggestions, if you so desire. Good luck!

I can tell you we love Chef Mickey's for dinner. Crystal Palace for dinner as well. And really enjoyed our lunch at Tony's.

These sound good to me. Haven't dined at the others.

I'd love help and suggestions. My wife and I will be visiting DW in September with our 7yo DD and 4yo DS.

I should add that we'd like to attend the character meals but we don't care if it's B/L/D.

I was told Tony's would be great to watch the afternoon parade so it's less of a food choice and more convenience but if it's horrible I'll cancel it.

The Royal Table can't really change because we're doing the whole BBB thing before and there isn't another L/D slot available for our stay (as of now).

We're staying at Caribbean Beach and on our last night I figure we'd hang close ... anywhere is fine just so long as it's easy.

Crystal Palace is pretty good & the characters are so fun..is a keeper!

Tusker House breakfast is the best ever. You'll love it!

Suggestion: Ohana for supper it is really good & a fun place for kids. We love it.

Coral Reef at Epcot is good & with the fish the kiddos are entertained there also. This is my DH's first choice each time. [Mine is LeCellier.]

We are trying CRT & Tony's our first time this trip. CRT for getting to dine at the castle. Tony's because Italian sounds good on our MK day.

We like Ohana way better than Kona. I just don't like the set up of he Kona restaurant as it is open to the lobby. While Ohana is a neat restaurant & I like watching them cook there.

I don't see anything at Epcot and was sort of wondering why. We all loved Soarin and Test Track. DS5 loved the video games in Innoventions and we had to drag him out of there. Epcot has so many wonderful things for kids like the Seas and all of the interesting sites in World Showcase. We had great character interaction and great food at Garden Grill.

I would also recommend the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. It is 2 TS credits but we had a great time and your kids are a good age for the show. Our kids adore fried chicken, though, which made it a great value for us.

Chef Mickey's - Dinner We ate here and the service was terrible. Food was edible. The characters were great. I sort of wish that we had scheduled this for later in the trip so DS5 could have been more used to the characters.
Cinderella Royal Table - Lunch We ate here at 3:55 for a very early dinner. We all really enjoyed the experience and would go back.
Tusker House - Breakfast Can't comment but I've heard good things and would like to try this next time.
Kona Cafe - Dinner
Hollywood & Vine - Breakfast Unless you have someone dying to see Agent OSO or Handy Manny, I would skip it so you don't get too tired of buffet food. We did eat at Hollywood & Vine for dinner with the Fantasmic Pkg. If you like Italian food, you could try Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic Pkg rather than Tony's at MK.
Crystal Palace - Dinner We ate breakfast here and it was fantastic. We usually get up really early at home but it was just too hard to do on vacation. MK's RD was at 8am when we went. We tried to get there asap but never made MK at 8am. I would advocate for breakfast at 10:15. The characters were great and the restaurant was almost deserted. They came around 3 times & Eeyore and Piglet came around an additional time when I was sitting there alone & hugged me.
Tony's Town Square - Lunch Why pay for a spot to watch the parade- especially when you may not even get a balcony seat? Also, we saw that parade a lot more than we wanted to after we went to MK for a few days!
Shutters at Old Port Royal - Dinner

As for your other dinners, my thought was that if we were going to eat at Disney, we were going to eat with Mickey Mouse or our meal credit would be spent on some other experience that we couldn't get anywhere other than Disney. We were on the regular dining plan and also ate at our resort a lot more than I thought we would. We usually ate lunch there when we went back for our break.

I hope your trip is great!

I also wanted to say that everything was convenient and I didn't worry about anything being close because I thought the buses were great. If you can do without a stroller, I would try to. DS walks a lot and DH doesn't mind toting him around on his shoulders when DS gets tired so we were able to go without and it made things so much easier. A stroller is great for hauling stuff but we took a back pack which we took turns carrying and were fine.

I suggest one adult carry all the room cards/tickets. We used one lanyard & ID card holder. When we would approach the turnstiles, whoever had the cards(me or DH) would take them all out & distribute them- then collect them all on the other side. It is easier for one person to carry them & get fastpasses, too. DH & I took turns wearing the lanyard. Whoever didn't have the lanyard usually had the backpack. This meant that one parent wasn't stranded with absolutely no money because we kept cash in the backpack. Not all of the carts take the room card & I wouldn't want to be without cash just in case. A few days when I knew we were going to DTD, I took my debit card with me in the ID holder, too. (Can you tell I like to share my advice?)

Overall, not a terribly impressive selection of restaurants, to be honest. However, you've told us nothing about what you and your family like and don't like, so perhaps it works for you. Figure that every restaurant is there to serve certain patrons for certain reasons. :confused3

I like Kona Café for dinner. The Kona Island Sushi Bar is open then and serves the restaurant. We made a meal of sushi and appetizers the last time we went and liked everything.

I do not like Tony's at all. I think it's the worst Italian food that Disney has to offer, save maybe Mama Melrose.

Shutters has a bad reputation, but I still want to try it sometime. I think it could be something that I would consider a hidden gem.

I have not been to any of the others on your list because they don't interest me at all.

ok quick reply because I have 10 things on my plate this am = I'll write a more detailed response later = thanks for taking the time to add your 2c!

it needs to fly or run for us to eat it = non seafood family

applebees is middle of the road for us at home and I'd much prefer to cook a meal than eat out = we'd like to avoid shirt and tie dress code and I'd like the food to resemble home cooking

fancy schmancy artwork on my plate is a waste of time = I want it to taste good not hang it up on a wall

character meals are important to us but the B/L/D choice isn't ... give me something good to eat while the kids get their kicks

Chef Mickey's-I think its good to do once-you get the "fab five"
CRT-ok to do once
TH-heard its great-trying next trip
Kona-love it for bfast lunch and dinner
H&V-terrible
CP-best character bfast IMO-dinner ok
Tony's-we like it-more for atmosphere and service than food although the have the best pistachio creme brulee.
Shutters-terrible

I would definitely switch H&V and shutters-we love Cape May @ Beach Club on a Hollywood Studios day. From CBR you can take bus to DHS and then walk or take a boat over to Beach Club. The bfast is fun with Goofy, Minnie and Donald in beach attire.

Maybe a DTD restaurant instead of shutters on your last night-Raglan Road or even Wolfgang Puck Express is great. Your kids can make their own treat @ Goofy's candy shop after:thumbsup2

VERY helpful info! I'm calling to check right now(:

This place sounds like a miserable hot mess! My wife has it in her head that we MUST visit this restaurant for the characters.... what would be a good alternative?

I think its good to do once-although I liked bfast much better. Plus you get the pics with the fab five without waiting in long hot lines in the parks:goodvibes

Chef Mickey's - Dinner

Kona Cafe - Dinner
Hollywood & Vine - Breakfast Not so great, better options are out there
Crystal Palace - Dinner
Tony's Town Square - Lunch Yuck, Yuck and Yuck again! Seriously, one of the places we have avoided since our 1st trip's experience. Several threads discuss this option, so you may want to run search
Shutters at Old Port Royal - Dinner

Welcome to your future addiction :goodvibes
