any NYC hotels that are bedbug-free?

I would really love to take a family trip to NY some Saturday and stay overnight, but I am totally paranoid about bedbugs. Anyone have recent experiences, advice or recommendations? We would do the usual NY sightseeing (Statue of Liberty, FAO, DD's would want Build A Bear, I'm sure, etc).

A hotel could be bed-bug free tonight, and have them tomorrow. There's just no way to guarantee what you're asking, no matter where you go. However, it is still pretty unlikely that you will have an issue with a reputable hotel, in terms of a rampant continuous bed bug problem.

No advice as we usually stay with friends, but don't waste time at BAB in NYC!!! Way too much else to do, and it is a pain to keep up with them during sightseeing.

I must be the only person in New York City who has never seen a bedbug here. Other vermin, yes. Bedbugs, no.

The issue with this site is that these are non professional, unconfirmed. The information on this and sites like it are posted by everyday people who are not trained in diagnosing or finding bedbugs. Did some of them have bedbugs? I am sure they did. However, one needs to take this information for what it is and not use it as a be all, end all source.

As for hotels in New York, vicki_c is 100% right. Any hotel might have them, just because a place has had them in the past doesn't mean it ever will again, and just because they have never had them doesn't mean they never will.
