Any Northeasterners doing the Applefest?

I think I am the only one who needs a room and Joanne was kind enough to offer one up so I will be staying with her. That way, I can help her get set up for the after party and get some things done before/after the race.

I am so glad that Chad decided to do the race with us and that you all are going to be there too!!!!! Fun times ahead.

Half training starts today. :thumbsup2

Good morning all Applefesters!!!

Joanne I just found out that my DD has a field hockey tourney on 10/5... The tourney is to raise money for the teams going to Disney in Feburary...

So.....now it will just be me, myself and I. I hope there is lots of fan support as I will be without my #1 fan. It is really nice to hear his voice over the course!!

Any other Applefester updates??? :surfweb:

Lisa,
You won't be seeing me from the back in Hollis I am sure.My nerves will probably get the best of me.Already worrying about the hills- locals call it heartbreak hill I hear!

Too bad about your DH not being able to go.

I hope we have good weather.

Linda

Linda: My nerves get me pre-race too but we will all be together for support!

Actually, I think we are all running about the same pace (you, me, Joanne) and unless AmyBeth has gotten a lot faster in her time of nonposting, we will all be able to run as a group together for "hill support". :lmao: We will just let Chad and Scott run along ahead and drop us a line to use on the way up.

When I did Great Bay with my SIL after following her up the first hill I told her that I was going to tie a rope to her waist so she could tow me up the next hill!!

Your training seems to be going really well and you should be very proud of your gains. That goes for everyone BTW, myself included. Today is be proud of who you are and where you are day!!!

Hollis Applefest in three weeks and counting!!!! :cool1:

Thanks Lisa! The support is great.

Has everyone talked about where they are going to meet at the start or finish? I know what Amy and Scott look like but that is it.

Yeah that rope idea sounds good! I will meet you all at the top!The hill scares me even though I do have some here I have been training on.

Have a great day,
Linda

Linda, I will have to get with Joanne about a meeting spot as this is her home town. I will be with Joanne and wearing my WISH tee so I should not be that hard to miss. I do know what Chad looks like so we will have to all get hooked up somehow. I will PM you my cell # also just to be sure!!

Hills, what hills. Just keep your head down and breathe. At least that's what my SIL says!!!!!

Of course there will be a party!
PM me for my address and phone #
If you want to bring something- bring your specialty. Hopefully I will get a better head count as the race approaches.

I will so be at the back of the pack. I have MCM on the 26th so I don't want to jinxs it! It will be a blast! I'll wear my wish shirt too!

Bumping this thread as we are in taper week!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Joanne, is there a place where we can all meet up before the race starts. Since you are more familiar with the area and the drop off point, I thought it would be good if we could all meet in one spot. I will be wearing my WISH shirt like a beacon!!!!

Who else is excited???!!!!! :hyper:

Please give me an idea of who will be coming to the afterparty. So far I have me, Lisa, Chad and Kristy.

The start place is not too big. I think we will have no trouble finding each other as long as someone is wearing bright green! I have had luck in the past in arranging a meeting spot to the left of the gym doors before you go in the building.

I had developed tendonitis in my left knee. I will be going to PT and meeting with a personal trainer Monday. Fingers and toes crossed. I will be dead last- who cares?

I plan to come to cheer for you all. I won't make it to the start since my dd has dance class, but I'll be wearing WISH green and cheering for you all. I plan to come to the after party with my 2 three yo girls. See you all soon.

Cindy

Joanne - we will be bringing Zack (5) too!

I can't wait.
Chad has been kicking some serious booty in his training & I think he'll get a PR.
I am trying to figure out how to entertain an active 5 year old boy for 2-3 hours of waiting at the finish.

Now, to go find my green cowbells for Saturday... :thumbsup2

Kristi- The library is open that day and there is a really fun kid friendly play ground too. Lull Farm is fun too- they have a few animals that Zach might like to see. Plus apple picking. Corn maze on route 130.

We are looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone!

Hey Applefesters!

Just checking in to WISH you all good luck! :thumbsup2 I hope the race brings one of our beautiful New England autumn days. I remember this event as a really fun and well-run race, even though I ran it (gulp!) back in 1990! :rolleyes2

Have a great race!

I'm getting very excited for this race and I'm not even running. The weather forecast looks good. Lots of luck to everyone running.

I won't be able to make it to the start so my plan is to try to cheer at mile 9. Joanne, do you think it's feasible to go in the back way and park on Pierce Lane and walk up to Wheeler? From the satellite map it looks like I can do that. See you all on Saturday.

Is everyone wearing WISH shirts? I wouldn't want to miss anyone. I'll be looking for Chad, Lisa, Linda, Joanne, Amy and Scott running and Kristi and Angie cheering? Is there anyone else?

Cindy

I am REALLY excited!!! I cannot wait to meet everyone. Who is picking up packets on Friday evening? I plan to be at Joanne's around 6 p.m.-ish to do packet pickup (subject to change if DH actually decides he is coming).

I will PM my cell to anyone who wants it so we can be sure to hook up before/after the race!!!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Chad will be working tomorrow night in Boston until 8:45 - so he will pick up his packet Saturday morning. He's always done that anyway & never had a problem.

Can't wait to see everyone!
For those I haven't met yet - I am a redhead (and so is our 5 year old, Zack).
Should be easy to spot us cheering! :cheer2:

Lisa

Linda
