You can to the Cemetary 1 tour. You meet right off of Bourbon street outside this doorway and a woman will greet you and you walk to the cemetary which is about 6 blocks away. Tour takes about 2 hours. It's the most famous of all the above ground cemetaries. Marie Laveaux VooDoo priestess is buried there. Make sure you stop off at the Voodoo store and buy some potions or spells and voodoo dolls.
The Vampire Tour can be kind of fun. Lots of walking and you see all of Anne Rice's homes she wrote about in her books.
The Garden District Tour is an amazing tour of all the Anti-Bellem architecture. It's another walking tour, but if you love big beautiful plantation style homes, this is for you.
The Oak Alley Plantation Tour is amazing. The front pathway is lined with 20 on either side, 250 year old oak trees, covered in hanging moss. One of the oldest and most preserved plantations. The tour is very informative and quite interesting. Tour bus picks you up and it's a 40 minute drive towards Baton Rouge. Any plantation Tours, which there are TONS, are all outside of New Orleans about 30-45 minutes. They couldn't build these homes below sea level.
The Swamp Tours are great except in the middle of the summer. You will get carried off by huge mosquitos and it's hotter then hades.
Make sure you enjoy some of the restaurants OFF of bourbon. Try to find a fried meat pie.
Burgundy street has a lot of art galleries and tons of little shops.
You can also take a riverboat ride down the Mississippi, eating cajun food and listening to jazz bands.
As you can tell we love New Orleans and go quite often. Sure we spent our nights drinking but during the day we kept pretty busy with tours. There are TONS of them online. You can purchase ahead of time and some you can just show up and pay the person. Most are 20-35 a piece it seems.
