Hi All,

Does anyone know what Disney plans to do with that little island that used to have the animals. I think it was called Discovery Island.

It'll be the first stop on Geraldo's grand made for TV special...

Uncovering the hidden secrets of Disneyworld.

They'll have a construction crew chipping away the hardend bird crap and uncover the long lost blue prints to Myst Island.....

Oops! Forgive my spelling. Geraldo will probably be drawing his map in the sand to the hidden treasure!

Good one! Maybe Geraldo can find the missing Disney imagineers while he's searching.....naw!!!

That would be part two of the expose....the only problem is they're not hidden....he'd just have to head down the street to Universal....

How about a serious answer to kimmypar's question?

In general, no one knows for sure. It is still being maintained, although the exact reason is unsure. There is electricity on the island and there has been some rumors about it being used for CM training, executive retreats, etc. I have watched it every chance I get when we camp at FW, and have yet to see any activity other than the buzzards that seem to have taken over.

As I reported a few months back, during a stay with my family at the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge I saw a pontoon boat full of imagineers and managers drive out to the island. They spent about two hours walking around the island and then returned. I dont have any idea what they were doing but later that day a helicopter spent several hours hovering near or approaching the island from different directions. My guess is that they were surveying for something.

I've got no idea what the future holds for the island but I do know the the place smells aweful. We took the boat from WL over to FW and as we passed the island we were hit with an odor like a week old cat litter pan. They need to put a bunch of cats on that island to thin out the bird population.

Yeah, but w/all those cats, won't it still smell like a week old cat litter pan?! hahahaha!

Like all Disney decisions these days, this one comes down to the money. So, the leading candidates for the Island-formerly-known-as-Discovery are those ideas that make the most use of the existing resources on the island.

1. Disney's Dung Adventure: a return to Disney's edu-tainment legacy, this would be an interactive excretion experience. I won't spill all the beans on the interactive elements, but let's just say Epcot won't be the only place you can "Leave A Legacy..."

The current ad campaign is based on "Hey, there's some interesting crap, out there."

2. A wild mouse coaster, spinner ride, and carnival games will be dumped on the island under the banner Guano-Rama. This concept couldn't have been built within budget without the lucky (Magical?) finding of abandoned rides and structures that have already been authentically themed by flocks of pigeons and Canadian Geese.

3. To save on supplies and maintenance, the island will be converted to Pluto's Poop Pavilion, a one-stop solution for WDW guests' evacuative concerns.

All the other restrooms on property will be turned into churro vending locations.

Does Disney have any openings for economy minded Imagineers ? You may have hit on pure ME magic with your enlightened vision of DI. I can see it now: Plush Crap
