Any news on our D23 membership perk thingy?

There was something in the last Files magazine...but I haven't heard anything since either via e-mail or here on this board or any other...

Does anyone have any idea? I see that Disney Debit Visa is offering a 15% discount and I'm wondering if I should just do that.

It's kind of annoying that they announce something fairly publicly fall of last year and it's now 6 months later and.....Nothing.

Last I saw on the member website was that the registration tool was supposed to be up sometime in June. I can no longer find that information.

You do realize that the DVC membership ONLY gives you the right to buy merchandise. You can't sign up for events etched.,,,it is a joke i

Our new Disney Files just came today and I skimmed it briefly...there is an entry that says the info on D23 membership will be available in June. Wow, this has been going on a long time! Hope it is worth the suspense!

Well, it seems like this perk is dead before it started...as I learned today that they will be offering it to EVERYONE, not just DVC members:

Yup, looks like we aren't getting an exclusive D23 membership for DVC members only. If we get one, it will be free and for anyone who is a Disney fan. They have been talking about this for what now, over 7-8 months? and we've been holding our breath.

We were really excited about this last year, and now it just seems like the whole thing was handled very badly. There was no reason to tell us anything about D23 that far in advance unless they were going to follow through with it in a timely manner. It just got our hopes up for basically nothing, or at least nothing special it seems.

It's called hyping a product. Getting people excited over nothing and getting them to sign up and spend money.

Disney does this all of the time. Just wait until VGF opens, people will be buying contracts before the building is finished.

Just to keep things in perspecive, we haven't "lost" anything. We never actually got something to begin with, so there's nothing to lose.

Frankly, unless D23 somehow shifts its strategy, there wasn't really anything to gain by the special perk. Letting all have it, really doesn't mean anything.

Man, this really pisses me off. When we went to the DVC meetings on our Fantasy cruise back in OCT, they said DVC members were to be getting the magazine etc.
This free tier is bs if you ask me.

DVC should not announce something will be coming as a perk to us if it is not confirmed or finalized.

It's not even hype, per se, because no one was going to buy into DVC to become a member of D23.

Sure, but also they did announce this as a perk that was coming to D23 members. Any expressed or implied "exclusivity" went out the window though.

If they said the magazine was included, they were mistaken. The magazine was never part of the plan. Not even the Silver members get that. But it was also early in the process, so not all the information may have been available to them.

Although you were told the free membership would include the magazine, I think that must have been a mis statement even then.I don't see who would eat the cost of producing that magazine..either DVC would have to offer it as a 'perk' or D23 would which would really be a blow financially. The magazine is very well done, large and advertising free. I'm glad they have made it a 'perk' only to paying Gold members. True..making everyone free members is a way to try and get more paying members. I want them to be successful but I don't want even more comptition for tickets. Still, I really love the club and am kind of surprised at how many people shun or ridicule it. But, to each their own.
