How about a thread to promote any new bands or musicians we are enthusiastic about? Lord knows I need the recommendations, since I am finding most new music to be SOOO boring. Except....here is my contribution....
Paolo Nutini!! Young kid out of Scotland. 1st Scottish male artist to have a #1 album in the UK (if I have that right). This is his second album. The first was more pop, but this time around he went WAY out on a limb and wrote songs that span several different genres (blues, country, dixie, reggae, you name it). What separates him from the many other singer/songwriters out there is his amazingly quirky, rough voice, ala Joe Cocker or Louis Armstrong. Really quirky performance habits (I've seen him live twice) but a fabulous, energetic band and overall rocking show. I'd love to say this guy is going places, but this second album really abandons any attempt to sell to a wide audience. But people who like him LOVE him because, unlike much new music, his is interesting. If you take a listen, do so with These Streets, as it is an easier listen. But Sunny Side Up is my new favorite album ever.
