any new deals for Kalahari?

On travelzoo there is a new deal 2 nights for $399 with some extra stuff- can't remember what.

We got a great rate there this time last year. I searched for codes and discounts, but couldn't find any. I just called the Kalahari, and got a great deal. They were running a special on their suites, we got a huge suite for 4 nights for around $700. We ended up splitting our stay between the Kalahari and Castaway Bay at Cedar Pointe. Boy did we miss the Kalahari when we got to Castaway Bay, it didn't even compare!

Yea-Just call reservations and ask for any specials. I always just tell them we have x number of people and want to go cheap. They always find me a price point I'm happy with. We only go for a couple days at most though.

I'm considering going here next year. Is it as awesome as they make it look on the Travel Channel's Extreme Waterparks?

If you like big slides, you will like it. My kids and I do not, so it was just OK. We went in June. Some of the water was not heated and freezing cold, such as the lazy river and splash/smaller slide area. We could barely use those areas. The kids area and wave pool were really great and seemed warmer. Also the hot tubs. We went out to the outdoor area which looked fun but it was really chilly that day so we didn't do much there. I would only go back if I knew we were going outside too. Much of the stuff indoors( food, activities) were overpriced.

I do not know of any deals out there right now. As PP noted-check out travelzoo. If you can wait for a deal, I would, because summer rates are really high.

I just returned from one night in the Dells. Some of my money saving tips are, don't bother with the indoor amusement park tickets-the price is not worth it. You can still visit the area and the kids can still play at the playground for free. Don't eat at the food counters right near the water park-the food is way overpriced. You can sit down and be served at Ivory Coast for less money and the food is better too. If you are looking for snacks buy them in the gift shop-much cheaper than the food court areas.

I am also looking for a deal since we will be celebrating my daughter's 11th birthday there next month. Please let me know if anyone finds anything....I will keep checking too!!!

The Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells has a newsletter you can sign up for from their website...I would imagine the Sandusky one has a newsletter as well from the same site-it is always offereing deals. Plus, they offer deals on their website quite often-esp on last minute type trips.

We went to the one in Wisconsin Dells a few weeks ago and LOVED it! :thumbsup2
