It seems like all of the attention (i.e. money) is being put into all of the other theme parks, which granted all need varying degrees of help.

Will there be any new rides (not shows or parades) coming to MK before the 50th anniversary celebration?

Nothing announced and highly unlikely IMHO (unless they re-do Stitch) as they just did the Fantasyland expansion which was, to date, the largest expansion in WDW park history. With the DHS and AK expansions, they have quite a lot on their plates.

If you think about it, new fantasyland and the hub getting larger was the only thing happening at one point so 1 could say the rest was ignored until now.

It was mentioned on oct 1 during the 45th ceremony that there is more coming that isn't announced yet and they aren't ready to say what it is yet.. execs were spotted I think last year, including john lasseter walking around tomorrowland with blueprints. similar thing happened in HS back in 2014 so I think it might be an indication they are at least seriously looking at tomorrowland for some big changes. There is road work going on that the permits say extension but if you look at the plans it's reworking a road to be more west of MK which I'm hoping means a new land coming over there.

Also epcot had some plans where the money got shifted to bring in frozen faster when it started to kick off record visitors. I took away from the HS announcements that the whole place is going to be reimagined and no longer about being backstage so there is some areas that probably have a phase 2 and 3 and we don't know are coming yet to achieve that goal. also star tours not inside star wars land doens't make much sense to me and they already turned the area between them into muppets plaza so that has to move or change into something else as some point. I think we're going to see big echo lake area changes after all the other construction completes.

Big changes are coming, many unannounced at this point so I think we might get some news at destination d and if not next year at d23. they would have to start construction in a way they can't hide it in the next year to finish it at the speed that disney does construction these days..

This is also not taking into consideration that universal has decided to make it sound larger with a new waterpark they are calling a third park and enough land to open something completely new so disney might be ramping up to really pump out a 5th park in addition to everything else..

It's an exciting time in theme park land...

I think they'll be cautious with capital improvement projects while they have major efforts ongoing at HS and AK. Epcot is also weeping for some love.

Yes, when they take as long to complete as Avatarland has taken, things do tend to pile up.

Nothing official though off the record I'd say stitch replacement and new night parade

There are plans to expand the park's footprint to both the east and the west, but these are, if I understand, more in the 5-10-year time frame.

I think we'd have a better chance of finding and rubbing an actual Genie's lamp and having 3 wishes come true than to see any new attractions at MK.

3 years to start to finish, assuming it's completed next year... That's a long time?

So if you don't include that time between announcement and when they actually started, what other additions were they working on in the parks?

To the East, I see how it would work, there isn't a whole lot of anything really in the way, but to the west there is the show building for Pirates, the show building for Splash, storage for the parades, and the canal that the electric water parade is stored on, plus some other back stage stuff. Seems it would be difficult, and possibly expensive to really expand there in any meaningful way.

What is being worked on behind the castle on the East side ? There were walls up last week in that area.

Changing Stitch to Wreck-It Ralph seems odd to me. That was a 2012 movie that a lot of kids have never seen/heard of. It's a good one, but in some ways it is already aging badly due to how it depicts video gaming.

from the screams of joy from kids when anything from that movie goes down the street in the halloween parade, I think it will be much more popular than most think it will.

I was referencing Pandora specifically, which you were refering. Construction started in 2014 and it's expected to open next next year. That's three years. Doesn't seem too long.

But, they announced Pandora way back in 2011 -- so at least six years from announcement to opening. That is a long time.

I think Disney would be better served if they were more like Universal, where they often start building before they actually announce a project. (Or, if they just built faster.)
