Any must have or Fab souvenirs I need to check out??

Seriously, my Dad starts talking about turkey legs as soon as he knows we are going. We are going to a Ren Faire tomorrow and he is anticipating getting one there.

When I flew through LAX last time, I did have an extra bag check. LOL.

Okay, so after reading some of the posts, I have something to say....

Hi, my name is Julie and I'm a Disney souvenir junky. I like pens, light up boxes, Dooney purses, t-shirts, Jim Shore figures and other bits of stuff. Sigh. That feels better.

I was posting from my phone earlier, but yeah, what Julie said.

And I saw this shirt on my last trip and am kicking myself for not getting it:

For me it's all about the clothes. I am a bit more frugal when it comes to buying things, but my DH is the spending freak! Everything from Disney Boxers to Jack Skellington Jersey's. I have a few disney watches, but I think this year (October) I'll be looking for a bracelet. I had one when I was a little girl and thinking I want to find one similar since my dad passed away, it would be a great childhood memory. Looking forward to new shops in DCA and old favorites in DL and DTD. AHHHH! I'm getting so excited :woohoo:

If you buy any food or drinks at a lot of the restaurants, they will give you a receipt that has a 20% off coupon on the bottom that is valid at most main street shops if you purchase before 12:30 pm.

Ooh, I hope they'll still be doing this next August when we're coming for our first trip! They were doing it on our last trip to WDW and it saved us a lot of $ :goodvibes

That's an awesome shirt. We love that commercial. We're headed down at the end of the month. I could pick one up for you if you'd like if they're still there. I work in the south bay.

Thanks so much Im getting really excited. Been working alot of OT so lookout !

I may ask you to pick up a couple for me. While I have a ticker that says we're going, we've had some huge vet bills for our two elderly cats in the last 45 days, and DH is hemming and hawing about not going.

I'm good, but thank you for the offer. I'm still working on bills from my trip. LOL.

I love collecting character sketches from Off the Page :D I think I have about 7 now!

If you buy any food or drinks at a lot of the restaurants, they will give you a receipt that has a 20% off coupon on the bottom that is valid at most main street shops if you purchase before 12:30 pm.

It lists the following stores, but when you ask the cashier at a lot of the other stores they say they also take it.

disneyland
- emporium
- disney clothiers
- the star trader

DCA
- Ts Hats and Tattoos
- Elias and Co

Downtown Disney
- World of Disney Store

I guess they do this since most people purchase later in the day instead of earlier to avoid lugging them around. But you can check your merchandise in for free if you show them your receipt at the newstand shop near the entrance. 20% puts a nice dent in the otherwise inflated souvenir prices. My coupons said they expire Aug 15, and I don't know how long they will be doing this.

Is it just me, or is it odd that a purchase in the morning can give you a discount of 20% but having anything lower than a Premier AP gets you only 10%?

Krispin41 - we are neighbors! We are off Winchester & Payne.

Where did you see this shirt? It is AWESOME!!

At the Star Trader's (by Star Tours.)

AND I finally uploaded some pics of the other cool things I brought home from my last trip:

Mickey flower headband (found in New Orleans Sq.):

Owl necklace with Mickey ears (I love owls, so this was a total no brainer to me, also found in New Orleans Sq.):

Leather "bag tag" personalized with my name (I never had stuff with the correct spelling of my name growing up, so this is one reason why I got this, LOL. Got it in Frontierland.):

Jack Skellington mini top-hat. (Got in DCA at one of the shops on Buena Vista St.) I also have a Tinkerbell one, and they have a Cheshire Cat and Mad Hatter one as well:

And last but not least, a silhouette of my chihuahua Lilly. We also had our silhouettes done. But of course, ours aren't as cute as Lilly's. I brought four pictures and let her choose which one was best. We had these done on our last day in the park, and then I had them shipped home. She literally took a minute to cut this out, amazing to watch, and very affordable. They run about $10 per person in the silhouette(so one with two people is around $20) and then another $9for the frame. Thanks to whoever posted about these, I think this is my favorite souvenir from this trip.

This is killing me! The things we do for loved ones !

I'm not bad, I was drawn this way!

My DW and I are HUGE shoppers when we go every year! We're more for the collectibles than souveniers ourselves. The miniatures are always good ones. the Vinylmations are good for kids like mentioned earlier, but if you haven't started collecting, you may want to stray away as they can be VERY addicting! I'm also a very big fan of the Disney character Star Wars stuff. Star Trader is my haven! :)

Krispin41 - love the one of Lilly! I never thought of having my dog's silhouette done.
