Any Must Do's We're Missing?

For our 7 night trip in January we have:

Jiko, Rose & Crown (love the view for Illuminations), San Angel Inn, Boma and Le Cellier. Wondering if there are any other restaurants you guys would suggest that maybe we haven't tried. DGF wants to try Coral Reef but the horrible reviews are scaring me some. Thanks in advance!

I would recommend Ohana and Kona Cafe. Ohana is a really fun restaurant and has a great view of Wishes and the castle, and good food too. Kona Cafe has great food, but isn't as loud. I would definitely try out one of those.

Is Ohana one or two TS credits? I was thinking about that one, but already have Jiko eating up two TS credits.

The Biergarten buffet and entertainment were the highlights of our trip. WONDERFUL...we couldn't stop eating, it was all so great. Hands down, one of the best (and I'm not saying 'gourmet' when I say 'best') meals I've ever eaten. You will be impressed (and stuffed!)

Biergarten was also one I was looking at. My only concern is that, and I may be incorrect, you sit with a bunch of people you don't know. My DGF would most likely have an issue with that, unfortunately.

I am paying out of pocket so I don't bother with many of the Disney Table Service restaurants any more. But I always eat at these two:

Germany. I have never been disappointed and you can usually get a reservation. This is also a show during the meal, somewhat cheesy, but fun.

I also really like Kona Cafe. I eat their every trip.

You may also want to look at Kouzzina. If it is as good as I have been hearing then it may be the next hard to get reservation.

Good call on the Coral Reef, IMO. It used to be very good when the Chef's had some flexibly with the menus. I still tell people about the whole fire roasted Piranha I had there several years ago. It was amazing and I have never seen it on a menu anywhere else. The last time I ate there the best meal was the Children's Mahi Mahi that my son ordered. Everything else was awful.

That is correct you sit at a long table with other people. I don't like sitting with other people, but after a liter of beer it's not so bad.

I too agree with Kona for either breakfast or lunch. We love eating at both times. The food and atmosphere is really good and the desserts are amazing . Also, we have eaten at Coral Reef twice and both times we really enjoyed it. The tank is awesome to watch as you are waiting for your food which is very good too. I normally get seafood, but if anyone in your party doesn't like it, then I hear the steak there is amazing too. Also, they have the Chocolate Wave Dessert which is pure heaven. The last time we ate at CR, we got to see Mickey snorkeling in the tanks, what a sight...even the waitress said that she had never seen that before in her whole career at Disney.

I did not like the Coral Reef. We, to be fair, had a bad experience with the staff. It was the one restaurant that could've easily sat our 12 person group, but they tried to refuse to do that. They told us that even though our 2nd table was children(ages 8-11),that they would have to sit half a restaurant away because that was the only way we would have the same server. I told them it was OK for us to have separate servers in order to accomodate and that I would take both bills. The host replied that he just worked there and didn't make the rules.(BTW there WAS a table of the same size beside us.) Then, I asked to speak to the manager and the waiter got really huffy. DH had to tell the waiter again to bring the manager because he totally ignored me. Amazing, when the dude goes to get the manager, he comes back with his tail tucked and the manager comes and moves the kids. After that, he had a totally different attitude. ANyway, I really didn't care for the food after that. We had the dining plan or we would've just left. It wasn't free dining, but it was back when the tip was still included. I'm one of the few that are glad that it no longer is.

I would try Kona Cafe, It was our favorite meal of the week, much better than Le Cellier if you can believe that. The food and service was amazing. Here are pictures of our desserts...

This was the Kona Cone and a huge hit with all of us.

This is what my DH got, but he is a healthy eater, even on vacation.

We ate at Coral Reef in June. We were also really concerned because it had gotten so many bad reviews....it was Father's Day and we had tried all week to change to Le Cellier, but no luck. So, we decided to just keep the Coral Reef reservation and it ended up being a really good meal. We would go back again, but like to keep trying places we haven't been.

We went to Jiko last weekend and loved it! The atmosphere was great and the service was good. You must try the corn and spinach curry wraps as an appetizer, they were wonderful!! When we asked for wine recommendations our waitress was very helpful (even though she talked us into the $75 bottle, but worth every penny). Jiko is on the 'Orlando's Bests List' for wine selections.

We just ate at Tutto Italia and LOVED it. Everything was so fresh tasting and delicious. The atmosphere was great and the wait staff was very attentive, too. I know it's not quite what you asked, but I would do that over San Angel Inn in a heartbeat. We did not enjoy our meal at SAI at all. Crowded, mediocre food, and bad service.

FWIW the food at Coral reef is better than San Angel which used to be a fave but now on the "not again"list after several bad food experiences.

I noticed that 3 of the restaurants you mention are at Epcot. Are all 3 dinner? Will you be spending 3 of your 7 days at Epcot? Just kind of wondering...

The other 2 you mentioned are at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I would venture to guess that is where you will be staying...?

Suggestions I would throw out...

50's Prime Time - If you are planning on spending a day at Hollywood Studios.
Whispering Canyon - Take the boat over from Magic Kingdom if you have a day there planned.
Kona Cafe - Take the monorail from the Magic Kingdom around to the Poly.
